Question about Garden

Open Question

I've got an old home hardware landmark 12/38 riding lawnmower and the belt just blew on it. I'm looking for info on what belt to get to replace it. A user manual online would be great too if anyone knows where I can find one.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Locate the tag with your model and serial number on the tractor. Be sure you get the number EXACT or it won't work.
Go to Murray's website and download it. They usually have parts listings at the back of the Owner's Manual

Looking for manual for old Landmark (MTD thru Home Hardware) Lawn Tractor (12HP-38") ~ 1993 or so. Model # 133H450F503

Hello -

Normally, you could go through MTD for something like this, but it appears that it's not available from them anymore.

However, I found a tractor site that has some owners of your particular machine. They may be able to help you out.

My MTD riding lawnmower is burning thru the new belts I just purchased. The new belts are 954-0371A which replaces 754-0371A. The old style belt lasted 5 years. Even before engaging the clutch, the belt...

My idea is not about the belts, but is about the deck. If the tensioning mechanism on the deck is getting stuck in an intermittant position than the belt may be just tight enough to turn blades while slipping through the pulleys, this may cause enough friction to start melting your belts. If this is the case you will have to remove your mower deck and see what is preventing the mechanism from functioning properly.

My husband was injured and cannot replace the main drive belt for our riding lawnmower. Is there a place to get the schematics of how to put it on? If I have a picture I can do it. Model 917271041,...

Normally the belt diagrams are in the owners manual. Seeing this is a 12 year old machine the diagram stickers are possibly gone, but the drive belt diagram is normally on the bottom side of the foot rest, and the mower belt is on the top of the mow deck. Both are typically on the left side of the tractor as you sit on it. Please vote 4 thumbs up. Thank you.

Replacing the belt on a Murray Riding Lawnmower.

The simplest way, is to take hold the belt, with the tension from the engine pully/clutch mechanism, then to follow the shape around the rest of the cutter mechanism. (You don't have to worry which direction the belt travels,)
Bearing in mind, the tensioner direction.
Then, you will see the correct route, very quickly:)
Hope you can manage, with that.
