SOURCE: We need to replace the drain hose in our Kenmore

To replace the drain hose, follow these steps:

1. UNPLUG the washer and turn it around so you can access the rear panel.

2. Use a wet/dry shop vac and pull a vacuum on the drain hose. This will remove any existing residual water that remains in the drain line and pump minimizing any mess you may have to clean up later. NOTE: There is about a gallon of residual water that normally remains between the lower wash basket, drain lines and pump.

3. Remove the rear panel by loosening the screws around the perimeter of the back panel. With the screws removed, the panel should lift off. NOTE: There is a smaller access in the center of the back panel that can also be removed. Removing the entire back allows for better access though. Trying to work through the center access can be a cut hazard due to the sharp edges on the metal.

4. Move around the the front of the washer and remove the lower toe panel under the door. You may have to prop up the two front feet of the washer to access the screws under the bottom front edge. With the screws removed, the panel will drop down, then lift off.

Additionally removing the front toe panel will give you full access to the drain pump from the FRONT and the REAR. The pump sits closer to the front of the washer where you can easily access the hose clamps. The drain hose inserts from the rear, however.

Since you have the washer apart, now would be a good time to check the drain pump clean out trap to ensure there is no debris build up that can restrict drainage. The following link explains the recommended procedures to check the drain pump:

Defy Dishmaid - The water from the bottom spray arm only comes out a about 3 inches and no water from the top arm. The water pressure into the machine is good/normal. What can I do/check?

Sounds like the machine has an internal problem of plugged passageways.
If you can figure a way to take the arms off the machine, and get a compressed air hose with a blower, unhook the machine at the fill hose in the bottom of the back and see if you can blow the sediment out backwards. \
DO NOT try to blow the air through the solenoid that turns on and off the water.
This will require completely dismantling the machine in a work area. God bless your efforts.

The grey drain hose split, anyone know how to replace this? Is it attached to the drain pump in the front? Also discovered that black drain tube is clogged at the front filter. This tube seems to be...

the drain hose is indeed attached to the pump area... sounds like you may be on well water if it is breaking the hose down that bad... if not that is unusual to have hoses break down like that... its not hard to replace the hose as they just have hose clamps on them ,but yes you do have to tear apart unit to get down to drain pump assembly... some of the units have a front kick plate you can remove to get to them and some you actually go into from the rear... i didn't look this model up but we work on all appliances and normally there is a way to access the drain pump.... some units front loaders you can actually tilt up and the bottom plate will remove to gain access to it also... just going to have to look around and make access the easiest way for you... once your in though it is a simple task to replace hose...
