What does fm protected mean on jvc kd-r311

When i turn on the stereo it displays the words fm protected and wont let me do anything

its simple. hold the "sel" button until the menu comes up and it will say hours use the volume button to change it. then use the next button to go to the minutes. then you can also change other settings under this menu. hit the "sel" button again to go back.

You need to have the yellow wire from the stereo connected to constant battery/12 volts. That wire supplies power for the memory, if it is connected to ignition power, when you turn off the car, the power for the memory is off also.

If this happened while playing music at a little higher volume, you must check the speakers for short in coils. disconnect the speakers to see if the protect condition changes, if so check the speakers and wiring. If not then you must have blown up the output IC or a power shorting within the set. You will have to remove the pcb disconnect the power to the output IC to confirm the fault. Helpful I hope. Check your speakers and speaker wires to make sure there are no shorts or grounds. If the speakers and speaker wires check out, you probably have a bad internal output ic.

If you have a multimeter, try checking the speakers and speaker wires for shorts and/or grounds. Make sure your speaker wire has no bares spots. If the speakers and speaker wires all check out good, you may have a bad internal output ic.

you need to connect the red wire coming from that is not being used in the plug to the cd player then feed it through to you cigarette lighter. to find the live wire just rest the copper onto the metal and then once found it unplug the cigarette lighter there should be a ring feed the copper wire through, reattach plug it back in and you should be all set up!
