Start out with 1.5 turns on High speed jdet and 1/2 turn on the low speed. Make sure plug is not wet, better yet install a new one. Clean, fresh fuel and give it a pull.

Hi there is a small stone fuel filter in the tank. this filter stops fuel from running back into the tank from the carb check to insure it still on and make sure there are no cracks or hole in fuel line that should fix your problem

I don't know if you have a Zama or Walbro diaphragm carburetor on this unit, so I will give you tuning methods for both! Zama First....

After seating the screws back them out 1 1/2 turns. This should be close enough to get it started. Let the motor warm up a little then, with it idling, turn the low screw in until it starts having a hard time running then back it out until it idles smoothly. Prop up the Mantis so it can run at full speed safely while you adjust the high side. With the throttle wide open, again turn the high screw in until it starts running roughly and back it out until the motor is running smooth. Some say to turn the screws out until the motor starts having a hard time running and then turn it back in half way to where it was running bad at the other end. This doesn't work as some engines don't care how far open the screws are.

need to adjust the high sscrew. i do mine in 1/4 turns. start machine, full throttle, adjust the h(high) til it clears up.i would start by turning 1/4 counterclock wise, just remember to keep track, in case it runs worse, the put it back to orig. then try the other way. but i suggest 1/4 turn at a time

example... think of a clock when turning screw. straight up and down, 12oc, 1/4 turn will be 3oc, another 1/4 will be 6oc, and so on. hope it helps!

If your Mantis has a ZAMA carb, replace it. Don't bother with a carb rebuild kit.

I had exactly the same problem, did everything you did. New carb fixed it. Runs like new now.

Hi Don. There are two adjustment screws on the carburetor. Start the engine and while it is idling, turn the screw closest the engine (low speed adjustment) counterclockwise until it starts to falter, then back a 'hair' and try the throttle again. If that doesn't work, I would recommend doing what I usually do... put a new carb on and be done with it! Carb is a Zama C1U-K54A

Check fuel filter and lines, if thay are good I would get a carb kit and set the adjustment screws at 1 turn out from lightley seated to start. Don't lean high speed screw too much.
You might check muffler & cylinder port for carbon first.

check the fuek lines for hole and leaks, check the fuel filter and clean if necessary. remove the carbuerator and inspect the gasket; it should be soft and flexible, if it seems hard or brittle replace it. clean the carb with carb cleaner sray (available at any local auto parts store) and compressed air. make sure you get inside the small fuel rail holes. check the primer bulb for pin holes and seating/sealed properly. if that doesn't work have the carb repaired at a service center or replaced.
