Re: Lense cover won't open

Dirt or grain of sand in the small gear box that drives closing and opening of lens cover. Remove front assy. and if you are brave dismantle gear box to clean out. Otherwise just blow without dismanling the gear box.

Sounds like a sensor problem - which happened recently to one of my own video cameras Called Sony, and they are replacing the lens and sensors and refurbishing the camera to like-new condition. Here is the number as listed on the Sony website: Priority Service Line (for U.S. only): 239-768-7547. Once through the maze of recorded menu options, and you get to Camcorder Repair service department, they will help you very efficiently. Hope this helps.

Can't play back videos on my experna; memory card Sandisk class 4 8Gb. Have a canon Vixia HFR10 camcorder

Okay, ours is a different brand (JVC) but they may have some basic similarities in function. To playback video clips stored on the memory card, put the memory card in the card reader slot of the computer and put the files onto the computer. Playback the clips from your computer video or photo file. (Ours won't playback video stored on the memory card through the camera.)

To playback video clips stored on the camera hard drive through the camera, we open the viewer screen, look at the function keys on the camera body, select the "Play" button. On the screen it displays thumbnails of the various video clips. We use the toggle/function key to select from the menu containing options for playback, edit, delete, protect, etc.

My hd 3 v5061u is on test mode how do i get it off

With your camcorder powered ON, and set to VCR / playback, there should show on the screen (viewer) something indicating "Menu" or a "FN" (Function) option. Select "Menu" (or Function icon to lead to the Menu). Check through the Menu options to find "Mode", and find the option for Normal Recording or playback, as opposed to "Test Mode", or "Demonstration Mode".

If this does not solve the problem, try this: Turn the camera OFF, remove camera battery, re-install battery, turn camera ON and see if that Re-set the camera. If not, it might be resolved by manually resetting the time and date. Then go to the Menu again to set Mode to normal recording or playback.

If those do not correct the problem, there is no shame in calling the camera company to speak with Tech-services. That's what they are there for.

Pv-l453d no picture from lens to lcd blank screen ?

Your device has the option buttons on which to select recording by observing the process from the user observation scopes. One option only could be observed at the recording session. On the other hand, disabling the option of observing a recording session on the scope lense automatically displays the recording session on the visible lense LCD screen area.

Manipulating the Camcorder is from the option buttons located along the sides of the camera. A switch on the menu area should make that experiece achievable.

Lens Cover will not open or close

OMG! I had the same issue and blew on the lens. To easy to be true, but it worked! I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I turned the camcorder on and off several times, and it worked every time! Sure beats the $341 Sony was going to charge to fix it!!!!

Focus trouble

If your unit has a switch for manual focus, put it in manual. If you cannot focus the unit in manual you have a problem with the lense and it will need repaired and/or replaced. If you do not have manual focus you will not be able to troubleshoot the unit. It could be a lense problem as stated before or a problem with the Auto Focus system, perhaps just out of adjustment, or something more serious. Either way if you are not capable of camcorder repair you will have to seek the help of a reputable repair shop. Good luck.

No picture, record sounds

I know that this may sound trivial or obvious, but I believe you should never overlook the easy solutions first. Is the lense cap off or open during record? Certainly the problem you describe would be exactly what you get with a lense cap in place. I have seen units which have a slide switch to open the lense cover which did not work and the customer thought it was open when it wasn't. If that is not the case the only other problem which would cause this would be a defective CCD block (imager) or a bad connection from the CCD block such as a ribbon cable loose or out of a connector. In either case this would not be something that you could fix and you would need to seek the help of a repair shop. Two websites which offer free estimates are or Good luck.
