Sounds like you need to take the carb. apart and clean it. I like to use a Den Tek Brush, (used for cleaning teeth), to clean the small ports in carb. they work great for this job. Make sure to either clean or replace the small screen in thcarb. as well.

How to get gas on primer bulb

Make sure your fuel lines are tight and not leaking. I would also change the fuel filter that is in the gas tank.

My prime bulb looses pressure and first start is hard. I have to remove fuel line from filter and cover with thumb prime re install then first start takes time.

Does the engine run fine after it starts? Most common problem with primer bulb losing prime is an air leak in the fuel line or primer bulb. Air leaks don't always leak fuel. If there is an air leak between the primer bulb and gas tank there is no pressure, only vacuum. If it is not a major leak it might not leak without pressure but it will allow air to enter the fuel line. If it is a very minor air leak it could allow air to replace the liquid in the fuel line over time, but so little air once it is primer again that the fuel pump can over come it with volume of fuel.

Primer bulbs do not stay firm, as they are when initially pumped up, after the engine is running. There are check valves in the primer bulb that hold pressure in the primer bulb and throughout the fuel line to the engine. Once the engine starts the fuel pump creates vacuum drawing fuel into the engine diminishing this pressure and releasing the check valves. At this point the primer bulb is just another segment of fuel hose allowing fuel to pass through it as the fuel pump demands. The primer bulb functions much better when the outlet side is higher than the inlet side. This position makes it easier for the check valves in the primer bulb to seat and release as needed. If the primer bulb is functioning properly and is positioned with the outlet side higher than the inlet it should not be necessary to cover the end of the fuel hose with your thumb to get it to prime.

If the engine is hard to start after being fully primed there could be a problem with the fuel system on the engine. Some engines are hard to prime once air has entered the system, especially fuel injected models.

How to fix my Weed Eater MAX TE475Y TWIST 'NEDGE that wont start

First diagnose whether its a fuel, ignition, or compression problem. Remove the air filter cover and air filter. Spray a shot of carb cleaner into the carb and attempt to start ( choke should be open, throttle closed). If the unit starts on the prime then you have a fuel problem. Proceed by rebuilding the carb and if the fuel lines or primer bulb are brittle or discolored then replace them as well. Be sure that you use fresh fuel ( less than 2 weeks old) and if ethanol is in your fuel be sure there is no water in your fuel. If the unit doesn't start on the prime then check spark and compression. Compression should be between 120 and 140. If less than 90 the unit should be replaced.

My car cuts out after starting and is very jumpy in idle, have had injector seals replaced but problem persists.have to pump by hand to restart

Hi Pauline

Fiesta diesels have only been out a short time in Australia, so you're not here:)
Diesels don't usually have a fuel pump. They rely on the vacuum created by the injector pump's normal operation to draw fuel in. They don't have a distributor either as suggest in other posts. Regulation of the combustion is via the injector pump as it is compression ignition.

If your'e having this trouble it is most probably fuel supply. As fuel is drawn by vacuum, it is important there are no air leaks as well. Poorly fitted or tightened fuel lines or fuel filter will also cause the symptoms you have. If air gets into the system you loose the prime and the fuel wont be drawn into the pump. (Could be way you have to pump the primer pump)

You don't want it to be the injector pump, because they are expensive! Be careful if you need help because I've seen a lot of women pay for work that I'm very doubtful of the need!

Good Luck

Primer bulb wont prime

Most likely cause for this is fuel lines connected wrong or an air leak in one of them. Another scenario is the fuel line decayed inside the fuel tank (check it) and the filter fell off and now the line comes up out of the fuel on occasion. A clogged filter screen in the carburetor under the fuel pump cover causes this too. So...start at the fuel tank...check for cracks in the fuel lines (and in the PRIMER BULB) too, because air is unwanted in the system, but a little is always there.

primers pull fuel from the carb and dumps it back into the tank, so if the bulb will not prime the chances are the fuel filter in the tank is blocked, pull the fuel hose through the filer hole and replace the filter on the end.

Model # 358.797180, 200 mph. At first I thought problem was carburetor being gummed up due to being improperly winterized by previous owner. Replaced carb with new, did not fix problem. Also replaced fuel...

The primer is just a small pump that is supposed to pull fuel through the carburetor from the tank supply line/fuel filter. The filter is supposed to be connected into the longer line at the rear of the tank. This lines goes to the carburetor uppermost port and the lower port is tied to the inlet side of the primer pump. Remove the tank side line from the pump during the pump test to make sure that you are not pulling fuel into the pump from the exit line. Try pumping fuel at this point--if nothing happens, swap the port connection at the pump and try to pump again--when correct, it will fill the tank supply line first, then the exit line from the carburetor that goes to the pump and finally fill the bulb. If you don't get fuel with either connection, then you have a leaking fuel line somewhere as you have already replaced the carburetor. Most saws use a rubber fuel line, not clear plastic. Hope some of this helps!

I would recheck the carburetor to make sure you put the diaphragms next to the carburetor and not the gaskets.
Please if it is not priming you may have the fuel lines hooked up wrong. Also check the fuel cap to make sure the vent assembly is there. If the tank is not venting, the tank will get a vacuum in it not allowing fuel to flow.
Good Day.
