Counter clockwise if it's a dial, to the left if it's a slide control. Icing up can be caused by other issues, so if lowering the thermostat doesn't resolve your issue, you need to provide more detail to your question. Make/model of the appliance is always useful to a troubleshooter.

Refridgerator is freezing everything

This is likely a thermostat failure. The thermostat is no longer shutting down the compressor or sensing the temperature wrong. The thermostat is a module inside most modern refrigerators and is a fairly easy fix except for the cramped quarters. You can order the thermostat from an appliance repair store. I suggest getting the service manual while you are at it if you have no experience taking a fridge apart.
Do not damage or bend the sensing tube sharply at any time. Be gentle!

My refridgerator freezes everything whats wrong

Thermostat. You should hear the unit shut down when you turn it up toward warmer if not then you may have a bad thermostat. now that said if you are saying freezes like eccesive ice buildup this is usualy due to a leaking door seal allowing moisture to get in and freeze at the freezer area

How to check everything

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

Then replace the thermostat. It's cheaper that wasting all that beer. Seriously I think your thermostat is broken and stuck on coldest setting. Sea Breeze

Thermostat too high causing everything to freeze

you can order a new thermostat using the model and serial number off of the refrig. if the model# tag is missing or unreadable you may be able to get a part number off of the part itself. there are numerous online parts provider for appliances.
If yo would like message back with a mod and ser# and I would be happy to get yo a part number. thanks Peyton
