Cannon mp160 has a message of ''1'' on the circular screen. When i try printing, the message comes back on my PC saying that the printer is offline. But I know it is not. Help...

Steps to Resolve the Printer Offline Issue:
Step 1:

disconnect printer from computer
cancel documents in queue
if using a straight USB connection, delete all instances of printer. else remove duplicate printer icons.
reboot & reconnect printer (swap cables if not detected)

Your printer is connected to power supply
is connected to PC
On PC , go to Control Panel--Printers -- select your Canon printer and rigth click
Uncheck Use printer offline

Also if you are using the Refillable ink cartilages stop they always cause major issues

1) With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while pressing and holding
the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a
service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the on/off lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button the specified number of time(s) according to the
function listed in the table below.(Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in
orange and green, starting with orange.)Note: press 4 times for waste ink counter reset.

5) Turn off the printer.(it must be turn off)
then turn it on again.

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

Click File Print or CTRL+P and verify the correct printer is selected.

Are you talking about one of these.. if so, get up walk over to it and read display, it is offline, out of paper, needs toner, off paper size missmatch or somethin

offline means it cannot detect the presence of the printer, though virtually present, check the ff

1- cable are intact, USB or Parallel to PC
2- power line, light on the printer itself

if ok, then reset all queued jobs and restart the PC once again

try using best quilty in printer options menu ok might need new ink also latest driver installed for vista from cannon website ok
