This may just be a loose clamp or possibly a clogged air filter, inspect it closely for free play in the hose and breather box area, tighten anything that appears loose and try it again.

My 84 ford f250 6.9 diesel. Starts and then dies and wont start.

could have a bad fuel transfer pump ( block mounted) or air getting into fuel system. This could be caused by a pin hole in the fuel lines ( supply or return) have someone crank it over for you while you press the shrader valeve on the fuel filter housing , see if you are getting fuel or air. Could also be an injection pump problem. Best thing would be to have it checked by a qualified diesel mechanic, as this could be caused by many different things. Kinda costly to throw parts at it on a guess without proper testing

spray some carb cleaner down the breather pipe the carb could be clogged up so it is not opening properly and choking the engine or flush out your feul they may be dirty and your not getting enough fuel through when you need it or your air intake senser might need changing cus if your air/fuel mix is wrong your engine will stall

I have a 1999 Ford F-250 and it has a Banks Programmer on it. Anyway, it misses a little while it is just running but sitting still and when driving it starts stuttering around 1500 RPM's. Once you give it...

Put it back to stock programming, clear the codes and see what happens. Even though you will lose the extra power from the programmer at least it will run.

Ignition timing

if you bring the engine up to top dead center on the #1 cylinder and then mark the distributor housing for #1 sparkplug wire , remove the cap and then turn housing untill rotor points at mark then reinstall cap . This will get you started . then using a timing light check the mark on the damper and the the timing to 8 degrees btd .

Vacuum pump wiring

I have 84 & 85 Ford F250 4X4 w/ 6.9 diesel and they use a belt driven vacuum mounted below the alternator driven by a short belt from the alternator.

Have never seen an OEM electric vacuum pump on any Ford F250 w/ 6.9 diesel and early 7.3 non powerstroke.

This must be an after market unit, so look for marking or ID on it to find who made it.

Best guess on wiring, unit may be 2 speed, with black being common or ground and red for power.
