Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

Motherboard identity, drivers etc

I have recently inherited a motherboard for a desktop pc. the problem is that the motherboard has few markings. it is an oem motherboard possibly manufactured by msi (due to a stamping on the circuit board, but does not identify the model). my research of the few markings on google showed it is an acer aspire m5641/am5641 (d33008). acer insists they need original model and serial number from the pc box, therefore will not provide enough details to obtain drivers or specs on it (cpu specs, ram specs, etc). i would dearly like to get this unit up and running any assistance would be greatfully received.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: My Acer Aspire M5641 freezes

The video hardware is heating up and triggering a thermal sensor, or it's failing due to excessive heat. You might try running air conditioning when you want to play the game that freezes the computer.

Hi enkay11
Try first the easiest by going to the Device Manager , double clic on the yellow marked devices and go for an update of the drivers . Windows will probably find a few or all of them if you are lucky .
Avoid stuff like ' Driver Detective " or other similar junk , they are only after your money .
Driver Max ( http://download.cnet.com/DriverMax/3000-18513_4-10572602.html ) is free but not 100 % accurate . Use it at your own risks .
Finally , if you haven't succeeded or only for a part of it , you need to identify the drives ( generally in Device Manager ) and go to the manufacturer's site to download the correct driver .
Best regards ,
fanaudi .

I recently formated my Hard Drver and i need to install the motherboard drivers. its urgent

After re-installing Windows, you need to download and install the motherboard's device drivers (ie. audio, video, WEBcam etc.)
You can download the device drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's WEB site.
I cannot give you the link to the
motherboard manufacturer's WEB site because you have not provided me with the make and model of your motherboard .

You need to identify your motherboard. Have a look inside for the printed ID number, do a google search for your motherboard and down load the appropriate driver.

The MB video, is automatically disabled when you plug in any other card, accordingly, usually it is "Enabled" when it is taken out. You can adjust the Video RAM size sometimes via the BIOS, though. Now to get the drivers, look on the MB, there will be a set of big, Numbers and Letters, usually white, or black, by one of the slots, that is the Motherboard's identity, or get Everest, a free MB identity program, now, using that number Google, that-number + motherboard drivers, That will get you them, download and install. XP SP2, would be better...
