Great explaination.

I tried this reset, but the error came back. Read in other posts that it is a "flash capacitor" problem.

SOURCE: Sony DSC-W50 Flash Error code-E:91:01

Press Menu button
togle across from REC Mode to setup
togle down thrice from camera to setup 1
togle across into sub menu
togle down from four times to Initialize
togle across again to the sub-menu
togle up from cancel to OK
press center button to accept the OK choice
Screen changes and so press okay again
It should restart the camera
Opening on the 'Clock Set' screen
togle down to cancel and use the camera and make sure that you have the camera to flash, if it works try again in the Auto function.
If it is still not working do not worry follow the steps again two or three more times, As this is generally a software error message and not a hardware malfunction.
If it is working then don't forget to set your Clock.

SOURCE: Sony DSC H2 flash will not flash, no error

this is a typical flash circuit failur, you can prove to find on ebay a brocken camera like your, to diosmount the entire flasc eletronic bloc and instal this on your camera. or prove if you finde the flasc bloc on ebay international seller. is probably you can find it in usa.. how many seller in usa sell camera parts. but one flasc circuit if you buy it original can cost 45 -50 euro. its probably that if you find a faul camera you can buy it with a lot less money. if you have a little knowledge to disassemble eletronic apparats , you can prove alone. disassemble to first the brocken camera so you can see wher you must work to not brocken anything. the better is if you disassemble the brocken camera make with anothe camera a film of the disassemblement, and later this help you to riassemble the camera and repair it.
sorry for my bad englsh. but i am shure that this is a eletronic defekt
paolo italia. if you was in italy i can hel you but you are to far from here

I wanna know how do i take black and white/sepia coloured pics in my sony dsc h55. please help me with the same. thanks

The DSC-H55 does not have black-and-white or sepia modes. You can do the conversion using just about any photo editing program on a computer. Doing so on a computer will give you much better control over factors such as brightness and contrast, as well as allowing you to apply filter effects.

When “FLASH error” (Self-diagnosis Code E : 91 : ** ) occurs, to prevent any abnormal situation caused by high voltage, setting of the
flash is changed automatically to disabling charge and flash setting.
After fixing, this setting needs to be deactivated. Flash error code can be initialized by the operations on the Setup screen.
Method for Initializing the Flash Error Code
Initializes the setting to the default setting.
1 Select [OK] with v on the control button, then press z.
The message “Initialize all settings Ready?” appears.
2 Select [OK] with v, then press z.
The settings are reset to the default setting.
• Make sure that the power is not disconnected during resetting.

E:62:12 keeps flashing on my camera

We had the same problem, Sony DSC W80 with the code E 62:12 flashing on the upper right side of the LCD screen. The camera was rotating the photos by 90-degrees. After reading that E 62 was related to the steady shot function, I figured it may be a stuck potentiometer in the camera (it has little sensors that tell the camera what it's orientation is, I guessed one of them was stuck from a "light" fall earlier in the day, while the camera was in the case). I firmly banged the camera in the palm of my hand 3 times on 2 sides... The problem's gone and the pictures are no longer rotating.
