SOURCE: can i use a universal remote on a gas heater

If the universal remote is compatible with a milllivolt gas control valve receiver or it comes with a millivolt receiver that can be wired into the heater, then it should work. If it doesn't do or have any of the aforementioned, then, no it probably won't work. The hand held remote and the receiver frequency have to match or be capable of being reprogrammed.

Hope this helped to answer your question.

If that white is ceramic, I think it is the actual ignitor, not the switch.

Heater shuts off and ILO shows on the screen

ILO stands for Ignition Lock Out.
This heater must be on a propane gas system as that is the only model that supports the ILO feature.
This either means that the gas supply is insufficient, or is turned off, OR...

the ignitor / flame rectifier have failed.

As long as you know that the pilot orifice is clean and free of debris, and the gas supply is turned on and correct, you simply need to purchase and install a new ignitor for this heater. I would normally list the part number and a place to buy it for you, but there was no model listed on this post.

On raypak heaters, the ignitor is actually the same part as the flame rectifier (flame sensor) .
What this means is that even if the ignitor portion is working, and your heater is igniting, the ILO code is telling us that the flame sensor is not sensing that it is lit. This is when it shuts down and gives the ILO code.

If you lost your manual and need a part number contact me @ :

I have most raypak ignitors in stock if you are interested.

My kenmore oven igniter doesnt click and there is no gas getting to the oven

Oven ignitors are not the "clicking" variety - they use a hot surface ignitor and "feed through" to a current sensing gas valve - in short, if the ignitor is going bad, then the gas valve won't open (safety). Try replacing the HSI in the bottom of your oven - do an online search and match up model and serial of your unit to the part. Be careful no to touch or break the new ignitor - VERY FRAGILE!!!

Gas Burner ignitor is not working

Yes it should be an easy fix.
Ignitors simply go bad from time to time.

If you have a meter you can check to see if you have voltage going to the ignitor. If you do, and it isnt trying to ignite, replace the ignitor.
If you have no meter, ignitors are usually less than 30 bucks so you will not be to much in the hole by just replacing it.

If you lift the cover to access the ignitor, it should be held in by two crews, the gas tube, and a wire to the flame sensor.

Make sure you turn off all gas and electric before disassembling.

You can find ignitors at your local appliance parts supply house.
All you need is the model and serial numbers.

I have a problem with an Armstrong SX90 gas furnace. model GUK100D14-2B serial number 8497G26541 The ignitor is not 'glowing' and therefore the pilot won't light. Everything seems to be sequencing...

Buy a new ignitor either from the ignitor store online, or your local distributer, Contracter, dealer.. they usually run from 15 dollars to 35. Their simple to change out and deffinite do it yourselfer... Oh and turn off power at breaker panel, you don't need any unexpected surprises!!
