SOURCE: how do i restore my

there is nothing called factory settings in conputers, u can only restore them to previous settings when u have installed any software.

to restore click start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

an window will open and u can perform the further operations.

sometime when ur system is not formated for long it will not restore properly, if it happens undo the oeration. "undo" options will be there after the restore completes.

note : the undo option is displayed only for one time.

You need a recovery CD to restore the laptop to Out of the Box condition.
You can get the recovery CD for your model laptop from the laptop manufacturer's WEB site.
I cannot give you this link because you did not provide details of the make and model of your laptop.

I am selling my computer and I would like to reset it back to factorys settings.

If you have the restore disks then you can do a factory reset. If there is no restore disk then you will have to re-install windows from the Windows Installation CD. If you do not have the CD then you may want to sell the system without any operating system.Download a boot disk called Boot and Nuke to format your hard drive before you sell the system. This will erase ALL data from your hard drive.

I need to restart my laptop to factory settings

if you want it to be factory settings, you would need the exact same Operatin Sytem installation disk which they probably didnt give you. The reason i say the same is because your serial numbers wont match as your original OS. Anyways if you only doing it to sell the laptop or two have a fresh Operating system, i would recomend you !1) Get a copy os Windows XP
2) Backup all your important files
3) Format your laptop and reinstall XP
4) Restore your files
5) Download (If you dont have it already) your drivers for your laptop. This can be found on Toshibas website.
6) Install all drivers and thats it. You have a Factory Set Laptop

Recovery disks, Factory specs, pda files and pcmcia?

thanks for your smile
recovery disc is used for recovering your operating system when your pc is having problem.
restoring back to factory default means the settings of the computer when you received the computer from the shop. in other words default settings.
pda files are personal data assistance files.
pcmcia card is same as lan card( also known as nic card, ethernet card) of your pc. pcmcia card is used in lap tops.

Hello:

If you want to restore your laptop to factory setting: You should insert your "recovery disk to the CD/DVD ROM. and then shutdown the laptop.

Now; boot your laptop using the recovery disk(boot the laptop from CD/DVD rom) This will no need to input the password: its either you have to restore the system without deleting the existing files or you have to partition and format the hard drive. formatting hard drive you will end up with fresh copy of system files. same as first day when you purchase the laptop.

be sure to install the driver if there's any.

However; if you tend to do by supplying the password. iguess all factory installation has no password. you have to strike the enter without supplying any password.

may this help,
