I'm 13 and i enjoy playing games like call of duty 4 and 5. It is very hard to play when your player keeps backing up without you pressing anything. i have tried everything i could think of. I also reseted my controller it did nothing. I'd rather not buy a new controller. Please help me fix this.
I’m sorry to say that you might need a new controller, unless you want to risk destroying it by opening it like some videos on YouTube recommend. Also, try contacting Sony for a replacement controller.
You probably need a new controller. I've had the same issue with a few of my xbox controllers, but I'm sorry to tell you that you can't really fix it without potentially destroying it entirely.

The buttons are sticking inside the controller. The only thing that will fix this problem is a good cleaning with isotopic alcohol and a Q-tip.

You might want to make sure you have Vibration set to "On" for that game, and if it is on, then yeah, I would suggest getting a refund on that piece of.......

Have you tried hitting the reset button on the controller? While it's plugged in via USB, get something small and hit the reset button on the back. (Right next to the front and center screw)

Welcome to Fixya. Heres how you can connect your controller to your PS3.
1. Press the tiny Reset Button on the back of the controller
2. Plug in the USB Connection wire
3. Restart Console
4. When loaded, Press the PS Button
5. Disconnect the USB wire
Then it should have recognised the controller and auto-assigned, hope this works for you
