Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

APVR-9650T I am trying to connect this to my computer via Cat 6 cable. All seems to be connected OK but my problem seems to be related to my Windows 7 Home Premium Admin Tools options in Control Panel. There is no Local Users & Groups snap in option in the Computer Management console tree (page 29 of the manual). I created the Media folder as instructed. I have tried every way I can think of to work around this but the PVR won't connect when I enter the IP address, computer name & password info on the Network set up screen on my TV. Can you please help solve this problem? Thanks, Peter

SOURCE: How to set a static IP address in Windows behind a Linksys Router

Sorry mate but you have kinda lost me here, if you need a static IP address for the internet you need to contact you isp and they will provide you one, if you want to set your machine to set IP Address just go into properties for local network connection and use somthing like 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 and leave the dns to obtain. but you wont be able to set a internet static ip address by doing this, only way is to contact your isp.. All the best John

SOURCE: I cant open an ip address for an assigned webpage.

There are several private address ranges that may be affecting the operations you are attempting to perform see table

IP Address Ranges Reserved for Private Use
Class Networks A 10.0.0.0 through 10.255.255.255 B 172.16.0.0 through 172.31.0.0 C 192.168.0.0 through 192.168.255.0
All addresses in this range in your network are only directly addressable to machines within your network at most by default. The router to your ISP and the internet as a whole maps these addresses onto the IP address assigned statically or dynamically by your ISP to the WAN side of your router using an address translation (NAT) service. So where you are attempting to connect to this device from may be significant. You may need to review your setup guide to see if it references router configuration requirements to support access to the Web_xpander port from devices not attached to your internal network. If you have multiple internal networks (address ranges and not devices) this could also be an issue.

Secondly -- does the Setup software for the device tell you the IP address assuming it is dynamically assigned. Otherwise how would you know what the address is. Static assignment could resolve that issue however you must understand your network to assign your own address. Given a theoretical network where the router gateway is 192.169.0.1 and the network mask is 255.255.255.0 the valid network addresses are 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.255. A router or other device supporting DHCP address assignment reserves another range such as 192.168.0.100 for 50 leases (ending at 192.168.0.149) for dynamic assignment to requesting network adapters. Ignoring the 0 and 255 address this leaves open to the network administrator (you in your home) the possibility of assigning static IP address in the ranges of say 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.99 and 192.168.0.150 - 192.168.0.254 or so. You as well as the DHCP server are required to assure that there are no duplicate IP addresses assigned on your network. So statically assigning 192.168.0.100 (which is DHCP assignable in our case) could and would most likely result in duplicate addressing and network problems.

SOURCE: Dynex 4 port ethernet router

When the TCP/IP is set to dynamic or "Obtain Automatically", the default gateway is supposed to blank. The default gateway address of your network is actually the router's IP address.

What is the IP address that you get when you performed step 3?

Did you call Comcast and give them the new MAC address of the Motorola SB5101 SURFboard cable modem? I'm surpised it works at all without doing this first. This is the hardware address of your modem so the world can see you, no one in the world has the same MAC address, they are all different. It's on a sticker on the modem.

Fs-613a-m136-b2 driver

It doesn't have a driver. It is accessed via the web browser on your computer or an app on your phone. If it is a new camera, the box has the IP address of the camera (typically 192.168.1.100 or something like that). The camera typically comes with a little CD (about 6 cm in diameter) that has windows software to view the camera. You must first connect the camera to your network with the Cat-5 cable and configure the wireless settings. If you have the little CD it also has a tool call "IP Camera Tool" or something like that. It will allow you to directly connect the camera to your computer via the Cat 5 cable as well. Then you can configure it.

Printer not connected to computer

If you are using Windows you will get a chime sound when you plug & unplug a usb cable. I would try using a different USB port on the laptop and see what happens. Did the dog/cat/hamster chew on the cable maybe? I would also try another USB A-B cable.

ML 2240 printer not detected by Windows 7

Hello,

Try installing it in safe mode.

To go to safe mode, do the following:

Restart and tap F8. Use the arrow keys to highlight safe mode with networking and hit enter. Install the driver from there and follow the on-screen instructions.

If no go, check the device manager of any question mark. There might be some outdated drivers that cause this problem. You can use RadarSync (free version) to scan your computer for outdated drivers.

After fixing all driver related issues, try installing the printer again.

I hope this helps!

Newly purchased Belkin Surf N300 wireless router. connected my wife's Windows 7 laptop just fine - quick and easy (in fact using it now). Went to connect my XP netbook - connects wirelessly to router...

There will be a lot of possible reasons on that, might be the wireless settings of your computer , you may try to remove all the old networks saved in your laptop and try connecting to it again, heres how 1. locate the wireless icon at the lower right hand corner of your laptop 2. Click on View available wireless settings 3. Click on Change advance Settings on the left side 4. You will have a small window with 3 tabs, one is general but just look for wireless tab 5. Box below you will see the list of the wireless name that was saved . 6. Delete everything, then make sure you apply it if there is or clicking on OK will do 7.Then try connecting again and make sure your password is correct.
or it might be your security application, try checking it and see if there's need to change especially if you got norton installed in your computer, try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Base from the description of your problem , it seems that you're using a Virtual machine running windows 7 from your MAC, In order for us to provide you the p[roper trouble shooting for this one, can you please provide us some details is the printer connected directly to your computer via USB or its connected on your network or shared by another computer? If its connected via USB try right click on the printer from printers and faxes windows from control panel and check if you have use printer offline.

This problem can be a software related problem, so if you haven't run the the setup disc for the printer yet while using the virtual Windows 7 do it right now to configure the printer properly.

When I plug a cable into port 8 it will shutdown the switch

Your router supports a total of 8 connections. However, on the back there are 9 physical ports. Port 8 has two physical connectors where one (we will call it port 8a) is used to connect to a PC and the other (we will call that port 8b) is used as an uplink port. The uplink port (8b) cannot be used if something is pluged into 8a. If you are trying to use all 9 physical ports that is likely ther problem. If you need more than 8 devices connected to your switch get another 8 port switch (any brand will do) and connect the two switches via the UPLINK port with a 7 foot CAT-5 cable. Do not use a CAT-5 patch cable less then 7 feet long to connect two network devices together such as computer to switch or switch to switch as that will probably cause another problem with timing.

Another possibility is that the device at the end of port 8 has a malfunctioning network adapter. Try connecting a laptop to port 8a using a 7' CAT-5 cable. You may also want to try pluging the problem cable into another port as a way to test if the problem is somewhere along the cable run.

How do i get my FA-66 to work via firewire?? please help!!!!!!!

u're probably trying to connect it with a 4 to 6 pins firewire cable to your laptop right?
if so, the laptop firewire connection is usually the small type (4 pins). this kind
of connection does not give Power to the firewire device.
u can buy a pcmcia card with 6pin firewire connections and usa a 6 to 6 firewire cable
and that will work. i hope. :)

Problem seems to be hardware related ie monitor itself is defective.Try connecting to another known working system. If monitor is defective it could be a power/inverter related issue or panel could be defective.
Please provide feedback and rate the solution.
