If you were trying to transmit without the ant. then your assumption about the demise of your radio is correct. If you hooked it up using an inline fuse ,then just change the fuse. If you hooked up without a fuse, then no, you can not fix it. Please rate this answer.

I have a whine in my dash that can be heard when the engine is reved. It feeds through to my CB radio when the radio is miked up

Interference may be caused by non - resistor spark plugs. If you don't want to change your plugs for resistor plugs, you may be able to get an inline resistor for the antennae from your local electronics supply store, like radio shack. Failing that, you can buy a cb antennae with a built in resistor coil that will also do the job. If you buy the new antennae, go to a cb shop to have your antennae tuned to your cb - it will increase your range and clean up your sound too.
Hope this helps, and please rate my solution!!

Excessive static equally on all chanels on cb

You should always connect the CB directly to the battery as the accessory socket is full of noise. You also should choose a better antenna as these small glass mounts cannot hear signals well and magnify local noise. AM (CBs) radios naturally pick up noise as it is the nature of AM signals. Use your squelch to lesson this but too much can knock out you reception.

Try this. While with the engine running and radio on, while you hear the noise, disconnect the antenna wire from the radio. (DO NOT KEY IT).

If the noise is gone, then the noise is coming in from the antenna. A new location may be needed.

If the noise is still there then its coming in from the power line. You need to get a ground loop isolator. Make sure its not one for RCA cables. You need one for the power line. It connects to your power source, and then your radio connects to it. this will take most of the noise out.

Only makes a clicking noise and wont start

First, remove the battery terminals and clean them. Check that the ground wire on the block is tight and clean and the wire at the starter is also good. If you have 12v at the main starter cable and12v at the smaller (trigger) wire next to it with the key turned to the "start" position, it's likely the starter is bad (providing you can turn the engine by hand with key switch off) Make sure that the battery has 12v before starting etc. draw far less than the starter does. Even if relatively new, if the charging system isn't working, it will draw down the battery in less than an hour while driving..
