Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-27FS100 27" TV

Sony Wega 29" TV screen cracked

TV screen was cracked in the shape of an arc At upper potion of the screen. There is no sign how it could have happend.Can any body tell me a reason for such a damage to occur. Can this be due to high voltage coming from a thunder storm. If sop can the TV operate for a while before it got cracked/ Please explain?

Definitely this is due to thunder. Apart from rarely following type of problem occurs through vertical section also. Before you got the screen cracked past month or past week days you observe any rainbow color screen or single horizontal line in the center of the screen means there is a chances to crack. Unless otherwise any physical damage by any other person or the above mentions symptom there is no chances to crack the tv screen. Since it is not designed like that moreover this is SONY

The driver transistor is gone . get another wega from a thrift store if you want for $10 or craigslist. CRT 's are getting harder to dispose with the lead shielding. you could pick up a flat screen for not much these days, Plasmas look more movie like

Screen goes black

Your TV have sound? If your TV have sound but no picture the problem is in the high voltage section of the crt board or try to adjust the screen adjustment.Its located in the flyback inside the TV at the back right side,the lower adjustment is the screen and upper is focus adjustment. If totaly your TV has black out check the fuse at the back if busted then replace it with same value.

Realy chattering in Sony WEGA Trinitron

Hi, that is probly a capacitor in the power supply section near the relay, he failed to keep it charged
whit a good capacitor tester wizard you must be able to find and check for cracked soldering around it or directly on the relays

that is not an expensive repair;half or 1 hr time....

I think you had an arc in the high voltage circuit which zapped the blue drive circuit to the picture tube. This could have been caused by the high temperatures the your set was subjected to. Stargazer
