"Most fan motors for fan over running have an internal overload. once it trips, it will not reset. it is a solid state device. it looks like a flat device or a small bullet device. if you've figured out how to take the fan apart, you could just remove the device and connect the two wires together and the fan will run. you won't have any protection on the motor however. the windings run warm, but if the bearings run dry the motor will slow down and the windings will get hot. this is the reason for the overlaod device - protection. its your call what you want to have."

SOURCE: how to open tower fan to clean it

Use compressed air to blow the dust etc. out of the unit.  You can purchase a  can of compressed air from Home Depot or Lowes, or Google "compressed air in a can."  Just make sure you clean the unit outside to keep the dust etc. out of your home.

SOURCE: I have a seville classics

Good Luck!! I too have one and although I was able to take off a bottom panel and clean it- the important area (fan) proves quite inaccessable. I am very mechanically adept too. Either way felt it was a lot of trouble for nothing- so I used a powerful vacuum blower to blow out all the dust instead. When these fans can be purchased for 50 bucks, new, at Cost Co, it sort of eliminates the need to get real carried away with maintenance.

My seville classics tower fan no longer oscillates - how can that be fixed?

Throw it away and buy a new one for 20 box at Wal-Mart. It's as simple as that cause to fix it, it'll take a new machine which cost twice the price. I think they made it to last one summer max. Friendly yours

My Bionaire Tower fan is Switching the sitting by itself from 1 speed to 2 speed. is it a defect?

I don't think it is a defect, but you may want ot check with the store.

I have a similar one that starts at a higher speed and switches down to low after a few seconds.
After that I can select the running speed.

The fan has power and will rotate, but no air is being blown out. any troubleshooting tips or is it a goner?

Try to free up top fan bearing, it is under switch cover. Pry cover with small screw driver, insert screw driver blade in access hole and pry, top fan bearing is held by two screws, remove, clean and lubricate with oil or grease. It works!

My fan makes a loud squealing noise upon starting

open the tower if you can and check if some obstruction of wire is there or not. caution turn of the pwr before doing that . if no obstruction then the fan has to be replaced. open the fan carefully take it to best buy or wallmart and get it replaced.
it is possible for the older computer that the fan goes bad or moves faster than its normal speed . its a common problem with all brands of computer.

The fan fuse 1.5A/250V is keep blown up as soon as

Unplug the fan.
Open it up carefully.
Look at the the wiring for damage or shorts.
Check that the fan impeller is free to turn.
If all of the above is OK then possibly the motor has gone? If so then it will probably be cheeper to buy a new one.
