Question about Vehicle Parts & Accessories

My 2001 Landrover Disco suddelnly wont unlock or start with the manual keys. All other electronics in car work. Any idea whats wrong?

Battery is new, key fob died long ago which is why I use manual keys , fuses appear to be fine, lock pin in door not broken ( connected to handle ). Locksmith opened car but has no idea why keys don't work . Said its like car does not recognize keys. Alarm goes off immediately when u put key in ignition. Stereo , lights etc all work .

SOURCE: 2006 chevy cobalt. new battery in fob for

Found a web site that instructed us to turn the car on and off 8 times within 10 seconds and leave car on, on the 8th time. this is supposed to put the receiver into program mode. Press a button on fob and turn car off. Should be ready. Tried it, didn't work. This is for fobs that have already been programmed with the 40 bit code. Pulled off positive battery cable for a couple of minutes and put back on. Now everything works.

When i changed ignition on 2001 ford explorer I ended up having to replace steering column now it wont turn over & the anti theft light flashes & wont stop. what can be done to get car started?

At least you know the anti theft system is working. Jokes aside, I would think that the electronic security system is not recognising the new lock and steering column. You could try leaving the battery completely disconnected for at least 2 or 3 hours to see if the system resets. Reconnect the battery and then try again with the new key. You will have to put the security code back into your radio as well. If this doesn't work, it may need to go to a Dealer to reprogram your electronic system.

Landrover alarm who stop going off

Inserting the key in the ignition and turning it on can work sometimes, but do you not have a remote for the alarm? Check the battery in the actual remote if you do have one. the alarm sounds as if (by your description) it has a back up battery, if so, youll have to locate IT and disconnect it, and that should reset the alarm. Without details, its shots in the dark here. Learn your vehicle, and contact a dealer to speak with someone who Should know his product. If your attempting to steal the vehicle as we speak, then I suggest you just run. ;O)

Fuses checked and now the car wont run but did before I did this.

Doing a search online came up with very little info.
The only thing that sounded serious was to disconnect both battery cables and wait a couple of hours before hooking them back up.
Or even overnight.
The idea is to drain the memory power from the CCM in the car, then reprogram everything.
Your owners manual should have a section on replacing the battery in the car and the battery in the key fob. There is a procedure to reset the alarm at that point.

Wont start

If the battery is hot, it possible that there is a short internally or the battery has been overcharged. A battery will get hot normally just from engine heat and electrons bouncing around to create the electricity inside the battery. First start with having the battery tested and then the charging system when the engine is running. Let me know what you find and if you need further assistance.

Electronic lock/unlock not working

Apparently the "LOCK" function is working normally because the burglar alarm is being activated when you 'lock' the car. Is this right?
The fact the engine won't start when the burglar alarm is activated is NORMAL If the doors will not UNLOCK front the driver's door manual switch, I believe you have a bad DOOR UNLOCK relay in the control module.

Alarm and imobiliser on a discovery 300tdi

before you cut or rewire the alarm, when welding the disco although disconecting the battery protects the battery, the imobiliser holds current, this my have gone into system factory setting, so it my be worth getting the imob and key re-conected, this is a cheap job at any Landrover specialist. hope your running smooth soon
