Not sure if this will work or not but take off the face plate. There is a little indention where you can get your fingernail underneath it and pry it off. You will see a button or tab that you can press...press it. This "reboots" your unit. When I did mine...it kept all my info even after rebooting. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the useful hint! I had the same problem?when I tried to turn on, it would not turn on, but after I pressed the reset button behind the front silver plate and plugged it back in, the GPS was able to turn back on again.Though, I noticed that the battery now only last for a very short time.Looks like I might have to change the internal battery if I want to take it off the charger. And this can be a pain in the butt.

Try to soft reset it by holding the power button for at least 20 seconds till it restarts.
If that doesn't help - try a master reset to factory defaults by holding the lower right corner during startup for at least 20 seconds. This will erase all user data and starts the Garmin in factory default.
If it restart I suggest updating the software to the latest version on Garmin.com
This problem usually appears when the battery is COMPLETELY DISCHARGED. So your device doesn't have enough power/energy to complete the booting cycle = to TURN ON. Take out the battery [if possible] and clean all connectors [the golden metallic tiny stripes] with a dry soft cloth. Re-insert back the battery and make a complete CHARGING CYCLE. Then try again. If the problem persists you have no other choice but to buy a new battery for your GPS device.

should come back to life. Cheers
