Question about Televison & Video

2 Answers

Proscan 37lb30qd The picture has all of a sudden become darker. No matter what adjustments we make in "user mode," the colors are very dark, and the picture details (e.g., the grass on a baseball field) are almost nonexistent. Is it dying, or did we do something wrong? Even when we restore the picture to "Vivid" or "Standard" mode, the picture is awful.

Thanks so much for the help, but we've already tried the adjustments you mentioned. The TV is only three years old, so we hate the idea that a repair may be already needed.

This could be one of two things. The backlight is dimming. There are tube lights in the unit and they slowly burn out. The way to tell is if the picture turns a shade of orange slowly comes on to full brightness. It could also be the inverter. The inverter is the board that powers those lights.

Want a B&W copy from colored sheet of paper w/o dark background.

It's never going to be perfect (unless the background is quite light in colour), because the copier basically "sees" the coloured background as "gray", and the darker the background the more "gray" it looks. Try setting the original type to "photo" mode, and then adjusting the exposure a little lighter/darker....that's all you can basically do.
