Your leak could be coming from the rubber door seal. Inspect all the way around the rubber seal paying particular attention to the areas behind the rubber seal where it meets the wash tub. They wear with age and can develop small holes. When they start leaking it appears like water coming from under the machine. I hopes this helps.

The water pump is a belt-driven device actuated by a clutch. Your problem could be:
1. Stuck pulley - break it loose and WD-40 it
2. Broken belt - replace
3. Bad clutch - call repair or replace
There is almost nothing that can go wrong in the pump itself. It's probably one of these three.

The rubber seal is called the "bellow". Replacements can be ordered on line at searspartsdirect.com, appliancepartspros.com, or repairclinic.com. All three sites offer great service, so shop around for the best prices.

I have a Kenmore front loading washer HE2 Plus.
Started leaking only 6 months old from the back over the spin motor.
I found a bolt had come out of the motor bracket causing the motor to crack a small hole in the plastic outer drum. I've been down for about a month waiting on the part and service. This is under warranty and we cant get any help any sooner from sears, not even a loaner.
Will not purchase Kenmore products again, 2nd front loader from Kenmore, 2nd problems.

Outstanding diagnosis. You are correct to assume a water inlet problem and, "yes", this can be a common problem. If you live in area that has hard water, or if you use well water, sediment, rust and calcified deposits can clog the small diaphragms inside the valve causing them not to close properly and leak by. You can attempt to clean the valve by removing it and submerging it in a 50/50 solution of distilled vinegar and hot water for about 30 minutes, Sometimes this can dissolve any clogs and restore the valve to full operate. However, if this does not work, you will need to replace the valve.
The following link explains the steps required to replace the valve if you need directions:
I have included web resources to search for replacement parts.
If you have any questions about this repair, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.
