Re: My Opal will not erase old downloads

You need to change to mode so that the device is recognized as a regular USB device. This will give you access to all the files on the thing. See this site for more info: Basically, you need to go to you device manager. Find the OPAL device under Portable Devices. Hit properties. Select Update Driver. Manually select the driver from the list and use the USB Storage Device driver. This should fix most of your delete and creation problems.

RCA Opal M4002 MP3

Maybe you can delete that song by connecting your MP3 to the computer or any pc that is available. Once you have connected, you can browse the file on the drive designated by the computer.

By using the computer you can add more songs or you can delete the song that is not necessary.

Rca Opal

The Opal has a reset hole on the back of the unit in which a toothpick (non metallic) can be inserted to reboot the player.
If this does not work, I suggest that you reformat the player by using the WindowsTM format command on the unit. To reformat the memory
  1. Right click on the device within the Explorer or My Computer window
  2. Select the format command (full format) to reformat the internal memory of the device.
  3. Reinstall the firmware from

Can Download New Music

The "My Selections" playlist? You have to delete the entire playlist. Or do you just want to get rid of old music on it? It's a plug and play device (on XP at least) and you can delete what you don't want from there.

Need help

I erase them by plugging the player into my computer, then click on "My Computer". One of the drives should be the Opal. Double click to open this "drive" and then click and cut the songs you don't want. Hope that helps! :) AT
