SOURCE: need to change digitizer on casio commando

For those of you that need tear down instructions for the Casio G'zone Commando:

We figured these out through trial and error. Hopefully, they will keep someone else from making the same mistakes we did.

Before you start, you will need a tri-wing screw driver. You can make due with a tiny straight way, but it will mess up the screw heads and make the process a little more difficult.

First, power off the phone and remove the back cover and battery.

Next, take out the four screws on the front of the phone. The black trim will snap off in two sections. Turn the phone over and repeat the process on the back.

Next, remove the gray trim on the sides of the phone. It is glued on and will pull off without too much effort. By doing this you will also have to remove all of the buttons and covers. I would suggest keeping each side separate to make reassembly easier. It is not necessary to remove the trim on the ends of the phone.

Next, remove the four screws (two on each side) found under the side trim. This will allow you to unsnap the front section of the phone. This does take some effort and will also remove the waterproof seal.

Now you are ready to start replacing the digitizer if that is your purpose.

The first step is to remove the existing digitizer. The digitizer should be glued in place. If it is not already broken (mine was), there is a good chance that it will break. Do not remove the glue that is left after taking off the digitizer. You will need it to hold the new one in place. Now you see why the phone has to be disassembled to this level, so that you are able to unplug the old digitizer and plug in the new one. Once that is done you are ready to start reassembling the phone.

This is not an easy process and will take several hours to complete. I believe it took us 3 - 4 hours to complete the process.

We were able to take the phone apart, replace the digitizer and get it put back together. Unfortunately, it was not fully operational once reassembled. For the most part it worked; the top speaker did not, as well as the dialer button and the menu key. The rest of the screen was functional, though. As I said, this process was a lot of trial and error on our part so it is possible that we damaged something.

I had the same problem. No caller ID for incoming or outgoing or missed. Then it froze up. I took the battery out to restart it. A day or 2 later I had to get it replaced. No caller ID at all. I got a new Boulder from verizon. It started not receiving calls randomly. I would get some, but friends complained that they called and I did not anser. No voice mail was there or them. Then IT Froeze on the Verizon Wireless wording. Cant do a thing now. 3rd phone onits way. THESE ARE JUNK!!!! I got my first in sept, 2nd oct, 3rd on its way for dec 5. SEND IT BACK FOR A REPLACEMENT.

SOURCE: delete apps on my casio commando phone

If they are the crapware apps installed by your service provider, you would have to "root" your phone. However, rooting may void your warranty.

SOURCE: how can i reset my gzone commando when its locked?

I went to the store and they did it for me, but you turn the phone off then while it is turning back on, hold the camera and power button down when the LED on the side rurns red, and it should prompt you to do a hard reset, or it might self-initiate, I can't remember. But it's something along those lines, if not take it to the store and they can do it. Hope this helps.
