I have a John Deere m665 ztrac mower. The battery is brand new and wont start the mower, it just clicks when I turn the key.

Check the brown wire feeding your voltage regulator,its between batt and steering wheel behind left side of frame.LX100 series machines had a problem with brown wire not fully contacting terminal in regulator.You will know you had bad contact if plastic is discolored.

"One click" tells me it's a connection issue. Remove and wire brush the ground and battery cable connections at the battery, chassis, starter and starter solenoid.

Very high likelihood you have fuel line problems. Disconnect primary fuel line from bottom of fuel filter and blow compressed air back up the fuel line to the gas tank. This will clear the line of any trash. Reconnect fuel line to filter. Then remove spark plug and spray a couple of sprays of WD-40 into the cylinder.. Re-install spark plug and then restart. WD-4- will act as a starter fuel and will start the engine for enough rounds to get fuel pump to working to normal run.. Good luck.

Prbably an issue with the solinoid, try jumping between the two heavy duty cables on the solinod with a suitabke screw driver BE CARFULL, if the engine cranks replace the solinoid

you have a safty switch problem you have 4 to 6 switchs the easest way to test them ,startin with the seat get a ohms metter they are open or noramly closed
