I transfered a VHS tape to DVD on my Toshiba DVR620KU machine. I used a Memorex DVD+R. I can play the DVD on the Toshiba unit, but it will not plan on any other DVD. Can you tell me how to correct this...

You must finalize the DVD on the Toshiba before it can be read on any other DVD player. Before finalization, it is possible to still add content to the DVD using the Toshiba but afterwards it will not be possible.

Dvd player shows (cannot play)

just for clarification you are saying when a DVD disk is in tray (closed) the screen shows can not play? .... what brand (disk) are you using....... try Maxell, TDK, Memorex or even Dynex brand.... you must also look at the speed (8x - 16x)... your device is okay for DVD+/- R & RW

Can your device show a pre-recorded DVD (store purchased)...... if not this may be a defected device

Unable to play recorded dvds (standard 120min) on my dvd player. format issues?

toshiba is very rough and demanding with dvds ....it must be Maxell (I find dynex /memorex and panasonic works too) the speed must be 16x/8x (not 4x) and this is the killer dvd (+) or dvd( -)...i had to take many gifts back to mall and exchange...so read your manual carefully and get what baby toshiba ask for...some times we cant get that sale our players will send us back to out for the correct....hope this helps you too

I bought DVD's and to my understanding that i need

While it is true that not all dvd players will play, record, or even acknowledge some media I don't think you need a firmware.4X -16X is the max . write speed of the DVD disc. It should be OK with slower speed machines. What did you use before? Good Luck.

DVD won't play through DVD Player

2 questions. Did you finalize it when you burnt it? Did you record it as video dvd or a data dvd?

My go video dvr4400 does not play homemade dvd's

Usually it isn't the speed of the homemade DVD but the type. DVDs come in four different formats:

DVD+R
DVD-R
DVD+RW
DVD-RW

Some DVD players will play all formats and some don't. Your manual should tell you. Do you know what formats are available for playback on your Go video?

My memorex 16X DVD+R Discs to play in my home player

-r is more universal, +r is newer.
Howevr it could be what you are using and how you are burning the DVDs.
Try just moving the Video TS folder to the recording cue and burn just that (as data).

Dvd playback

Some DVD players cannot play certain types of disks mainly -R discs. Check compatability in the DVD player's manual. Try using +R discs for peace of mind...
