Question about Lenovo Z565 Notebook
Both USB ports on my Lenovo Z535 are physically broken. They have shed small parts and no USB devices will connect to them. Do I have to replace my motherboard to replace them or is there a less costly fix?
Your USB ports on your Dell computer are plug and play. If you have issues with your USB port, it is port related, driver related or device related. The following solutions will help you identify the problem to resolve your USB port issues.
To Identify a Working USB Port
Begin troubleshooting your USB ports by checking Device Manager to see if your USB ports or hubs are working properly.
To Update the USB Port Driver
An out-of-date BIOS driver can create issues with your system recognizing the USB port.
To Run a Diagnostic Test on your USB Port
Dell has an online diagnostic tool to help identify and fix issues with your system.

SOURCE: USB ports work at 1.1; s/b 2.0
Your computer is functioning correctly.
The USB ports on your laptop are USB1 ports its pard of the hardware.
Your PCMCIA USB 2 card runs at USB 2 speed and therefore when you connect a USB 2 device to this port you will not get this USB message.

Based on your situation, I suggest trying the following steps:
1. Download the updated camera driver here. 2. Go to camerasection and make sure you select the Windows XP or Vistaversion of the drivers that matches your Windows operating system. 3. Afterdownloading install the driver then restart your computer. For theUSB concern,
1. Gointo Device Manager and uninstall all of the USB related devices.
2. Shut down and restart the computer. Windows will redetect and reload
the USB drivers which may resolve the issues.
3. If the problem persists then I suspect that you may have a physical
(hardware) problem with the USB ports themselves and therefore you
should have a hardware repair technician examine the computer.
Hope ithelps.Thanksfor using Fixya

Kindly set the BIOS on start up. You may have disabled the USB. If the matter persists then check the drivers in the device manager if they are correctly installed. Or if the problem is your Operating System then have it updated by installing online updates. This would install necessary drivers. If the problem still persists then, look for a computer technician to check your laptop.

SOURCE: Hi. The USB ports on
If you have tried every USB port and you use another USB device to it.. You may check the device manager and check if the USB controllers are disabled.. If not, you may click View and then click Scan Hardware Changes.. If still won't work, that is time that you call lenovo and have you laptop replaced defective USB ports..
