I have a 1968 Plymouth satellite, I powered directly to the car battery? I use toggle switch to turn off and on but like to know if there is better way? Thanks for time Jason,

1989 plymouth voyager has no power going to the coil?

you need to know if it has any codes. your computer needs to know that the engine is actually spinning before it will activate the asd relay which supplies 12v to the coil and injectors, so a failed cam or crank sensor will create this problem

A kill switch is an effective and economical way to dissuade a thief from taking your car. While it may not prevent a professional thief from stealing it, it will likely deter the average amateur. The key to how to install a kill switch is the choice of what type of switch and where to place it. A kill switch that controls the power to you fuel pump is far more effective then a regular battery kill switch, because it is unexpected and can be well hidden.


Moderately Easy

Things You'll Need:

Wiring diagram for vehicle Electrical tape Toggle switch Drill Phillips head screwdriver #14 wire Inline fuse Wire crimping pliers (2) **** connectors (2) Post connectors (type dependent on switch)


Park your car on a level spot with the parking brake on. Raise the hood and disconnect the battery cable.

Use your wiring diagram to locate the power wire for your fuel pump. Make sure this is the power wire and not the ground by following the wire to the fusebox (or ignition). The ground will terminate to a connection to the frame of the car. Place a 'tag' on the power wire under the dash with a piece of electrical tape so you can find it again easily.

Open the package to your toggle switch and remove the mounting bracket and hardware. Follow the directions to mount the switch under your car's dash, or on the body of the driver's seat. You will need to use a drill if you do not have pre-drilled holes for the mounting screws. Make sure the switch is tightly installed by pressing firmly into the screws with your Philips Head screwdriver and turning it clockwise until it is hand tight.

Cut the power wire to your fuel pump with the middle section of your electrical crimping pliers.

Cut two pieces of #14 wire long enough to run from the back of the kill switch to the cut power wire.

Strip the ends of the cut power wire and both ends of each piece of #14 wire. Use **** connectors to connect a #14 wire to each of the ends of the power wire. Crimp the **** connector closed over the joined wires ,and pull lightly to make sure the connection is solid.

Attach the wire connectors to the bare ends of the two pieces of #14 wire (style will depend on the connectors of your toggle switch), crimp into place and tug test again.

Connect the #14 wire that joins the power wire that goes into fusebox or ignition box to the connection on the toggle switch that is above the base of the toggle (there will be only two connectors on the back of the switch; do not use the 3 post kind, as that is a lighted switch and easily found).

Connect the remaining #14 wire to the switch. Re-connect the negative cable to the battery and test your switch, make sure you can hear the pump come on, and you are done.

Tips & Warnings

Re-wire any accessories that need constant power (like the clock, radio or any other anti-theft devices you have) directly to the battery.

Never do any work on any electrical component of the battery without first disconnecting the negative cable on the battery; if it remains connected, you run the risk of a shock or fire while working.

1994 toyata camry the alarm goes off and will not let me start the car.

factory security does not have toggle switches as far as I know so it is probably an aftermarket system. Try one of two things, turn the toggle switch the oposite direction with battery disconnected. Reconnect the battery and try again, the horn will beep a few times when you reconnect. try starting. If that doesn't work, disconnect the battery and turn the key to the on position and reconnect the battery and the horn will sound but will go off get in the car and try to start. It should start and run normally. shut car off, then you should be able to return the toggle switch to the previous position If this happens again turn the toggle switch to the opposite position with the batterry disconnected and turn the key switch to the on position and reconnect the battery and start when started go see a service that installs aftermarket systems and they should be able to reset it security system Hope this helps

Is your toggle hooked to ground? Hook your toggle switch to the battery and then the other end of that toggle the remote input on the amp.

You could install a switch for the simple reason of not having the keys in the ignition all the time to listen to music, but you could risk running the battery down if you forget the radio on. You could also connect the red and yellow wires together directly on the battery positive. Hope this helps

No power to AC compressor

well what you can do because your switch is bad is have a mechanic install a toggle switch that has to be flipped on before you turn on your ac and your compressor will go back to working normally. wired directly to battery is the only way to guarantee that you will get back to that ice cold as. ENJOY!!!!!!

1993 Plymouth Sundance will not start or turn over?

Make sure battery is fully charged. Connect a test light to battery ground and touch batt+ to check if light. Now test that there is power to the starter heavy wire directly connected to the starter. If power, good. Now test for cranking power to solenoid wire which is on top of starter; have someone cranks as you check for power. If there is power, starter could be acting up. If not, check all fuses and neutral switch. Be careful working around moving and hot parts.

Toggle switch attached to battery or starter

first of all i need to know if the vehicle will start without the toggle switch? if it does then you can just remove it if the vehicle will not start without turning the switch on you should know that the initial power is from this switch so mostly you have problem in the ignition switch and you have to repair or replace the ignition switch before yo disengage the toggle switch.
