Cyberhome dvd player wont open the red light is on but the tray wont open watched one movie and than when we was going to watch another the tray would not open can you help me figure out what is wrong?
Look on the bottom of your player. Between the two front feet you should see a narrow slot that is about 1 1/2" long (it should say "emergency hole". Shine a light into the slot, you should see a black pin about as big around as a pencil lead. Carefully push this pin in the direction of the arrow. It should release the drawer and allow you to open it.

It may not be able to read the DVD because the laser is dirty. First try to reset the system ( with no disc inserted, open then close the disc tray and hold the stop switch on the UNIT NOT THE REMOTE for six seconds). Then with the disc tray open using a can of "AIR DUSTER" - dry air in an aerosol can, insert the can nozzle into the disc tray cavity and spray away. That may blow off any dust on your laser eye. Try it again and if it still wont work, unplug the unit and remove the six small Philips screws that hold the cover on( it pivots up and off from under a lip in the front panel), plug it back in and open the disc tray exposing the laser and clean the lenses with Isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip. Do this GENTLY you don;t want to disturb the laser alignment. Dry with another Q-tip or the Airduster and re-assemble. Note well the unit will be POWERED with the cover off so BE CAREFUL. Just did this with mine and it now works like a charm again.
Switch player on and make sure there is no disc in the tray.
CLose tray and press menu,1,9.
A menu should appear with the region option at about the third line
from the bottom. Press enter and enter the region you want. Press enter again to memorize the code. Next press
open/close. Put in your movie and enjoy.
if your movie starts playing in black and white:
To always watch in color if
you do not have a Multisystem TV set Video output to Your TV system USA

If your computer recognizes a disc in the drive and operates normally, Id assume you would need a DVD player or codec to be able to actually watch the DVD. PowerDVD rings a bell.
Have you tired that? I know Windows Media Player by default wont let you watch a movie without first downloading a codec.
Reset you player by doing the following:
With the player on, hooked properly to your television, and on the correct station:
Open the tray
Close the tray (with no DVD inserted)
Hold the stop button down for a full 5 seconds
The CyberHome screen should appear. You should be able to play your dvd's now.
