I am trying to switch from a Westell 6100 to a Westell 327w gateway modem.I can not get the 327 to sink.Do I have to call Verizon to tell them I am changing modems or is the DSL line the same. The DSL light stays on steady, but unlike my 6100 the internet connection will not work. Thanks
Your dsl line stays the same. you're only changing your dsl equipment.
if you are not able to go online using the 327w, you might need to have it configured depending on the type of connection that you have. if you are using PPPoE (which means you enter a username and password on the modem to connect to verizon) you need your 327w configured for pppoe. but if you are using DHCP connection, any modem or routers should be plug and play.
Most verizon customers from the west coast uses DHCP while those on the east coast uses PPPoE.
You can call tech support to make sure which type of connection you are using.

I have a WEstell A-90 modem/wireless router that was installed yesterday to urn my FIOS internet. The range is very poor and I am having trouble getting a signal to my other periferals in my home. I was told that a stronger antenna might help. Do you know the antenna models that might work with this Westell model
