SOURCE: Frigidaire signaling water dispenser instead of ice maker

Sounds like the water solinoid valves are wired wrong. One activates The water dispenser. The other the ice maker. That, why every so often the water shoots out on the floor. The ice maker is telling the valve to open.

I have a Kitchenaid model ksrk25 that the water dispenser does not dispense water and the ice maker that was working has stopped making ice

It is rare that both sides of the water control valve go bad at the same time, but possible. I will need someone to examine the dual water control valve on rear near floor on the back of your refrigerator. Click here for a=> KSRK25FVBL00 Parts Manual Test the dual water control valve with a multi meter set for 120 VAC and place the probes into the wires that attach to the dual water control dispenser side and have someone press the water dispense control in fountain. With the dispense water pressed look for voltage on your multi-meter. Use care not to touch probes or bare wires to prevent getting shocked while testing. If you do not already have Adobe Reader on your computer click here first=> Adobe Reader X (10.1.1) You can also check the water control valve for ice maker by testing the ohm value first by removal of the front cover on ice maker and then placing the test meter probes in to the N and V opening You should get 150 to 350 ohm's of resistance. Also if your ice maker is dry and has no water then fill with tap water and then allow to freeze. If Ice drops into ice bin and then does not refill with water will point to repacing the water valve. If the clip is not below this post click here=> Broken Ice Maker Repair You also can find parts and user manuals by clicking HERE Sometimes the ice maker is the problem with the water control valve not working on the ice maker side. 2198597 Ice Maker Assembly Watching the clip is really a great way of explaining how to test ice maker and replacing water control valve if needed. I have a Maytag Plus side by side with Ice maker and water dispenser in the door. I have replaced both water valves and still cannot get water to the ice maker. The water to the water dispenser in the door...

First you need to make sure the ice maker works. One way to test it is to manually put water into the ice maker and wait a few hours and see if it pushed the ice out. If it did not you need to find out why the ice maker does not work. There are many reasons for that; that would be a new chapter. If the ice maker does dispense the ice but does not turn on the valve you would need to find a loose connection. There is a way to test the "water fill" after removing the ice maker, but it is a little tricky. Then also, sometimes the fill tube inside the freezer freezes; that is another problem al together.

Water leak from ice dispenser line

hi..
Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

For the ice maker problem, Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear. If it does, the problem is the ice maker and not the valve and line...

Water dispenser on front of refrigerator door does not dispense water. Ice Cube maker continues to make ice cubes. Defrosting doesn't fix problem.

Water dispensing solenoid is bad. You need to replace the solenoid valve. This typically is independent of the ice maker.

Freezer does not make ice

You need to check and see if ice maker has any water init. if not check the fill tube that goes thru the back wall for stoppage while you have it out rin the maker thru a harvest mode and listen for the sounds of the solonoid opening. If tube is full you'll need to replace the slow leaking valve a common problem. for parts call 704-819-6557

Ice maker not getting water after changing filter

Check the following:
Is the freezer door closed completely?
Is the ice storage bin installed correctly?
Is there ice in the storage bin?
Has the ice frozen in the storage bin?
Is ice stuck in the delivery chute?
Has the wrong ice been added to the storage bin? Use only
cubes produced by the current ice maker.
Has the ice melted around the auger (metal spiral) in the
ice bucket?
Dump the ice cubes and clean the ice storage
bin.
Is the ice dispenser stalling while dispensing “crushed”
ice?
Change the ice button from “crushed” to “cubed.” If
cubed ice dispenses correctly, depress the button for
“crushed” ice and begin dispensing again.
Has the dispenser arm been held in too long? Ice will stop
dispensing when the arm is held in too long. Wait 3 minutes
for dispenser motor to reset before using again.

The ON/OFF switch is located on the top right side of the freezer
compartment.
To turn the ice maker on, slide the control to the ON (left) position.
To manually turn the ice maker off, slide the control to the OFF
(right) position.
NOTE: Your ice maker has an automatic shutoff. The ice maker
sensors will automatically stop ice production, but the control will
remain in the ON (left) position

REMEMBER:
Allow 24 hours to produce the first batch of ice. Discard the
first three batches of ice produced.
The quality of your ice will be only as good as the quality of the
water supplied to your ice maker. Avoid connecting the ice
maker to a softened water supply. Water softener chemicals
(such as salt) can damage parts of the ice maker and lead to
poor quality ice. If a softened water supply cannot be avoided,
make sure the water softener is operating properly and is well
maintained

The Dispenser Lock (on some models)
Your dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to prevent
unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.
NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the product, to
the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the
dispenser levers. The ice and water dispensers will not work.
Style 1: Press the LOCK BUTTON to lock the dispenser. Press the
UNLOCK button to unlock the dispenser.
Style 2: Press and hold the LOCK OUT button to lock the
dispenser. Press and hold the LOCK OUT button a second time to
unlock the dispenser.
