What does error 5 mean

Error Code 5 flashes = NTC fault open circuit or shorted
If during the water heating step in the wash cycle, the water temperature sensor (NTC) value is out of range, the "F05" error code will be displayed.

Possible Causes / Procedure:
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check the water temperature sensor. Check connections to the water temperature sensor.
3. Check resistance of heating element, if present on this model. (abnormal = infinity).

Replace failed component.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Fault code "f5" what caused

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
You have actually posted onto the washing machine forum BUT my (limited) fault diagnosis notes for F&P dishwashers suggest that 'F05' indicates 'rotor blocked'. Had a similar problem with our Bosch many years ago and it was caused by a very small piece of egg shell! Suggest, therefore, that you remove the mesh filter(s) and you will probably be able to see the draining pump and free it!

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Hotpoint WD420 - Washes OK but when it moves to rinse and spin machine stops with error code F05 (lights 2 & 4). Have removed some debris from waste hose but this hasn't fixed it - what else do I...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Indesit (Hotpoint, Ariston) 'F05' decodes as 'pump blockage'.
I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Here are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Blinking 'err' message What are potential causes? The repair is quite expensive and I want to avoid a repeat

I've got the same blinking "Err" message on the top screen of my Kodak DCS SLR/n. And camera don't working at all (menu displays only)
I was thinking that is mechanical fault. But in service centre (not official because I living in Russia and there`s no official service centre that would help me) engeneer tell me that mainboard was broken and replacement cost will be about $700. So I'm buy new one.
If you live in the USA you can contact official Kodak service. I believe that cost of repair won't be more than half of new one.
