Question about Craftsman Garden

I have a 2011 Craftsman GT6000 lawn tractor and it seems that the fan is making loud noises

I bought this tractor for two years now and this is the first time this problem has occurred for me. As I was cutting the grass, I heard a noise which sounded like the fan was jammed. I opened the compartment and did not see anything. It feels like something is stuck or perhaps wedged in in the fan? (Though how could that be?). At first I thought it may have been the engine oil or gasoline but they are all full. Also, I don't recall running over stuff like rocks or anything of that matter. Could it be that some parts were not lubricated or greased, I honestly have no clue. Now that I start the engine, I can always hear the fan noise abruptly. Looking forward for your help, thanks.

Has anyone worked on this prior that you maybe don't know about? It may have loosen up from use or cracked. That engine shroud is going to have to come off for inspection.

Have you tried turning the fan by hand while its off ?
could be bearing in fan, or the pulley.

SOURCE: loud screech noise from deck area

This can be due to a belt slipping or a bad spindle bearing.
And on the difficulty scale,10 being extremely difficult, The belt would be a 1 or 2 and the spindle about 6 or 7 (because the deck usually needs removed for this job)

SOURCE: Mower will not start. Makes a loud fast clicking noise when the key is turned.

Loud ticking usually indicates near dead battery, take it out and charge it. If it still ticks you may need to replace it as they are only good for a few years.

SOURCE: runs but will not go

Hello brookspiercy:

From your Description it Sounds like a New Belt is Required and Possibly a New Clutch Idler Arm or Idler Pulley. The Grinding Sound like it May be the Bearings of the Clutch Idler Pulley.
>>For Better Assistance,
>>Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Model Numbers are Usually Located Under the Seat on a Sticker or Tag on the Body.

Check for foreign objects caught under the deck, as well as for a bent blade. If that's not the problem, look at the mower deck belt - is it burnt or worn in a spot? Take it off, and see if you can turn the blade spindles and idler pulley freely. If they scrape badly or are frozen in place, that's the problem.

I have a craftsman gt6000 18hp kohler garden tractor. I has been working fine, but last week I noticed a loud single click when i turn on the ignition and a loud single click when i turn off the ignition....

The noise is likely coming from the starter solenoid which is the heavy duty relay that sends battery power to the starter motor. If this is the case clean the wire connections going from the battery, to the solenoid and to the starter and try it again.

Craftsman riding mower noise when blades engaged

With blades on and engine off reach under and wiggle each blade up and down. If you have excess play you will need bearings.

Ginding noise for the transaxle in a craftsman rider lt 1000 42" cut. it is a loud grinding

if it is a hydro trans, i would guess it's more like a loud groan? if so, it could be that the trans is fighting a stuck brake, OR there could be a stick or something that wedged up in the trans cooling fan. if it is a manual shift, i'd look for a stick stuck in the pulley or between the axle and wheel, could be a stuck brake also, but not likely. if you pull a heavy trailer around frequently, it's possible that the gears are chipped, in which case the trans would need to be torn down and repaired, or replaced

Grinding loud noise in the transaxle

sounds like the bypass lever might not be re-engaging, push it in firmly. OR, the brake is sticking. this, of course, is if the noise is a growl or a groan. if it IS a grinding noise, look for something stuck in the trans cooling fan or between the axles and wheels, otherwise it's inside the trans and that's not good [re: replacement]
