Question about Raymarine St1000 Plus Tiller Pilot

Open Question

Autohelm 1000 my st1000 gets stuck on 78 degs, I leave it on standby for an hour or 2, if I'm lucky it comes good. I am on a small cat sailing north in Aus. It does get wet. I open it up in attempt to dry out in the sun. Is WD40 an option?

SOURCE: I have an old autohelm 800 analog with turn

If it is the one with the compass rose on it ,check if the compass rose is turning while the arm is moving,if not take the compass dial off by lifting the rose on the compass dial and unscrewing the special screw, then the same for the function dial.and all the screws in the bottom , Inside is a string with a spring running around the compass and on a pulley check if the string is broken or off the track.

SOURCE: My Raymarine ST1000 12 months

I have the same problem. Do you have a solution for it yet?
I do think it has to do something with decreasing power from my onboard accu. The first hour(s) sailing I don't have any problems, but after a while mine is jumping to STANDBY too, and the periods between become shorter, until less then 5 minutes.

Go to Raymarine website and look under Technical Support, Manuals and documents. All of their product manuals are listed there. If you are burning out the transistors, it sounds like you are puting too much load on the auto pilot.

Hi!
The ST1000+ does not have an internal GPS. What it does have is an electronic compass underneath the keypad. When you order the Tillerpilot to steer to a bearing, the unit uses the electronic compass to steer using a series of corrections.

Just in case you've misplaced your Owners Manual, you can use this link to download it to your computer: http://www.raymarine.com/productdocumentfinder.aspx

Click on your language preference, then Autopilots from the drop-down menu, tillerpilots and finally ST 1000+. The pdf file for your unit is 81130_6.pdf

Hope this helps and happy boating!

Hi!

As you're looking at the tillerpiot receptacle from the back, rotate until the "keyway" on the front is located in the one o'clock position. Your 12v power supply (pin 1) will be slightly below 9 o'clock and your ground (pin 2) will be above pin 1.

Other pinouts designations:

Pin 3= not used
Pin 4= SeaTalk
Pin 5= NMEA -
Pin 6= NMEA +

Your owners manual can be found on the Raymarine website here:

http://www.raymarine.com/productdocumentfinder.aspx

Use the drop-down menus to select Autohelm 1000+

Hope this is helpful!
