to the motherboard are in there right places, seated tight and firm.

If this is an OEM HP motherboard, you most likely won't find support on
the Asus website since they don't support OEM motherboards. Asus only
supports retail motherboards. You need to determine which HP/Compaq pc
system this motherboard came installed in, then check the OEM vendors
website to see if XP drivers are available. You won't find them on the
normal system driver page since it was only shipped from HP/Compaq with
Windows Vista installed. One such pc system that used this motherboard
is the Presario SR5019UK. I'm sure there were other pc models that used it as well.
A good place to start is the HP talk forums.
pls rate me FIXYA if u want more help

The following power supply unit (PSU) should work just right, however, it will not fit in a company branded case such as HP, Compaq, Gateway, Dell, etc. sine they all use proprietary parts and cases:

SOURCE: ASUS M2N68-LA Motherboard beeps
The short then long beep error is indicative of a RAM memory issue. I had the same problem and had to use a process of elimination to determine the bad RAM. Place a RAM stick in slot 1 one at a time. The RAM stick(s) that give the short-long beep error are bad. If all RAM gives you the error it is more likely you have a bad board
