Question about Nikon COOLPIX S9300
I used the camera once about a year ago. The battery card was not stored in the camera. I popped it back in to charge it. It's been plugged in for a day and a half and its still deader than dead. What could be the problem?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I'm sorry but you can't use the camera as a webcam. Here is why. There is no function on the camera to stream video.
Also, the camera goes into standby mode after 30 seconds (by default). And 3 minutes after that, it shuts off completely. It does that to save batteries. Again. I'm sorry. Good webcams average between $20. to $50. usd and they are made to work 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
You can use a 4GB memory card in your camera, as long as it's an SD card.
If you get that message, it means you haven't formatted the card for use in that camera. You have to format the card in the camera before you use it.
Even though the solution was not what you prpbably wanted, don't let it stop you from rating it a fixya. I would appreciate it. Let me know if I can help you with anything else, and thanks for coming to FixYa.

had a similar issue with my Pentax, it would power on and power back off. Tried playing with it for a while and it never recovered. Chances are its time to replace it. These new electronics are jam packed with lots of mini moving parts and are prone to excessive wear over time. they're are no servicable parts inside them unfortunately. I would try ebay for a reasonable replacement camera.

There could be 3 possibilities :-
1. Bad CCD sensor. If you would be able to view old / saved images/ videos, however when you try to click new image or try to take a new video, everything is black, this is highly suggestive of bad CCD sensors. These are really common issued. In the past most brands do have a recall for the same.
2. Bad LCD panel - If you could hear the noise that the shutter ( mechanical components ) is working, however neither you could view the old images / videos nor you could view the live image / videos, then it is highly suggestive of Bad LCD panel.
3. If you are unable to hear anything, and the old and the new images / videos are black, this is highly suggestive of defective electronic circuitry.
Unfortunately, all of the above 3 would mean that this is an internal problem and needs repair. The cost of repair would exceed the camera's worth. It would be better to call Nikon and complaint the same. They might be able to offer a replacement at a less expensive price.
There is only one trick that you could follow - Pull out the SD card and the battery. Clean the battery connectors. Keep the camera in the same position for around 30 minutes. Insert the battery ( without SD card ) and see,if that works.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
