Question about Sony BDP-BX57 Blu-Ray Player
Can watch either a blu ray disc or streaming Netflix, and suddenly the screen goes to snow, then blank green screen. If I unplug the hdmi and plug it back in, it comes back on for a few seconds/minutes then goes out again. I have no problem watching my DirecTV receiver, which is connected through the same hdmi splitter. Right now, I'm listening to Slacker through the Blu Ray player with no problem. Ideas?
Test the connection see the diagram attached. Clean the contacts and connector with contacts cleaner.
However you can restore in the menu to factory default.and see what happen.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the advice but I got it fixed myself, I had the Video Output set wrong."
You will need the following:
1) Internet connection
2) Wired router
3) long enough ethernet cable to reach from your blue ray player to the router.
Eject any disks and turn off the blu-ray player by unplugging it.
Attach the ethernet cable to the router and the other end to the ethernet port on the back of the blu-ray player.
Turn on the blu-ray player and wait for it to load all the way.
Using the remote, arrow over to the left to "Setup", the up to "Network Update".
After the unit updates and restarts, repeat until it tells you "Already Updated".
That should help you play the newer movies, and even some of the older ones.

This worked for me, from a Sony Tech.
1) When SYS ERR is displayed turn off the player by holding down the power button until tghe unit turns off. 2) Unplug the power cord. 3) Wait a minute or so and plug the player back in. This reset the player for me.
