Question about Emerson InSinkErator W-152 Point-Of-Use 2-1/2 Gallon Water Heater...

1 Answer

Gary, I have an Emerson Model 1-81 disposal unit, approximately 11 years old. It has developed two small leaks/drips on the bottom of the unit. Is there a fix or sealant for this issue?

The internal seals are bad and it could be from bearing wear. Replace the unit. They are not that expensive.

If you are paying for your water, I litre per hour is going to cost you. If the unit is 15 years old, I would seroiusly comsider replacing it buy, if it's just a bad valve, you could try to replace it. If it is cracked at the threads, it's time to replace it for sure.

Hi, my insinkerator hot water dispenser is leaking from the bottom screw. It is a couple of years old. Moder SST

My unit is 3 1.2 tears old. It started to delay the flowing of hot water. Today I held the lever down until hot water came out but I noticed water leaking from inside the unit. I figured that the tank failed, and since it was over 3 years old I decided to open it up. What I found was that there is a plastic tube at the top of the unit that was very discolored and brittle which developed a crack. when I touched it it completely severed. I called the Insinkerator hotline at 1800-558-5700 and they told me that opening the unit voids the warranty. I said that it appears to be out of warranty and I needed just the plastic tube for repair. The per on on the phone said that as a one time courtesy that a new unit would be shipped to me free of charge and that I could install it myself or they will have a tech do it. I opted to do it myself. Hope this helps

unfortunately not, if the tank is leaking from the casing, it needs to be replaced. i would suggest, if your not paying water tax, you can run the tank for as long as you like, just divert the leaking water into a floor drain. but i do highly recommend getting a new tank. that drip can turn into a flood in a matter of days, all depending how bad the inner wall has corroded.

Slow leak drips from bottom of 4 year old model

Hi

Please try and remove the cap by turning it clockwise and counter clock wise to remove it. If it doesn't come off then empty the water dispenser and use glue to fix the leak. See this link to see which type of glue should be used--- Glue Usage
