The eMachines D725 Notebook does not have an inbuilt microphone in it.But it does have the Microphone-in jack to which you can plug in an external microphone.Even though it comes with an Integrated webcam ,you have to use an external microphone for chat.
After downloading every possible driver and tweaking every possible adjustment I have come to this conclusion: There is NO built-in microphone on the eMachines D725! Oh, the Device Manager will show it, all right but I assure you, there is no built-in device that can pick up sound on that laptop model. You'd think that a laptop, albeit a budget on, with a built-in webcam should also have an accompanying built-in mic for messaging and calls, but it doesn't. The mic may have fallen by the wayside during the cost-cutting sessions, along with the 3rd and 4th USB ports. Your only options are to connect an external microphone or to trade the D725 for a real laptop.
