Question about Samsung LN46A630 LCD TV

Open Question

Colors are distorted and picture images bleed into each other

The video just began distorting the picture with some blue colors and now all of the images appear to be melting into each other on the screen. Is this fixable or time to recycle it?

SOURCE: LCD picture distortion.

This is caused by a failure of the main board. The failure causes the refresh rate of the unit to be off creating a trailing or ghost effect. This will require a technician to replace that board though. Hope this help.

SOURCE: SAMSUNG SP-P4251 DISTORTED PICTURE AND THEN SCREEN GOES BLUE

Wow same here but mine is red I know its because of the plasma bulb is wearing out and for my fix is $1000 but I didn't do want to go on so I tried to change the color settings and tried RGB to all 0 and it became fine. Well at least you have a cool blue screen, mine is red.

SOURCE: Crazy (red) disturbances in image

I have a very similar problem. My HP-4272 is about 3.5 years old. Started off with the bottom half going black for a couple of seconds. Then the top would flicker. Now I get the following picture... Not sure if I need to replace boards (Y-buffer lower, upper, and/or Y Main Board)? or if something just needs to be "adjusted"...

SOURCE: Picture on Samsung LCD LNT5271F is blurred

Had this exact problem diagnosed by a local repair shop as a bad LCD panel. According to the technician there's a loose ribbon cable on the panel and it would cost as much to replace/repair as a new TV.

Intellesence cant correct wavy color ghosted images on my screen. attempted to manually adjust and line up the colors blue will adjust but red will not.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

The color is distorted and the picture blinks. I've replaced the lamp twice before and i don't think this is a lamp problem.

color distortion (bleeding colors, or overwhelming of one color)on these tv's is commonly the optical engine. that might make it unecinomical to repair

Ghosting of the image

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

Color issues are harder to solve without seeing the problem. It sound like the red amplifier on the crt board is bad. Is there any red in the picture at all? If not, that will be you problem

Distorted color on image

You might have "color filter" settings. Turn the digital filters off. Here is what manual at p72 says. "You can take pictures using digital filters. The filters consist of color filters such as red, blue and green, a soft filter that produces a fuzzy effect. Color filters Eight colors, black-and-white, sepia, red, pink, violet, blue, green and yellow, are provided for the color filters. When you select a color filter in the Digital Filter mode, the display on the LCD monitor is filtered with the selected color, and the pictures are taken in that color."
