SOURCE: I have a Fridgerare which

Hi,

This problem could occur due to various reason.First you have to resolve for the cause of the issue.
First Check the back wall or floor of the freezer section for frost. The Freezer(evaporator) fan is running?.This fan problem is very hard to detect.
The DC motor for the fan wears out the RPM's are effected. It gives the illusion that it is running fine, but it don't have enough force to supply air circulation for both the freezer
and the refrigerator See weather the condenser coil for
blockage from dust and the condenser fan is running.

1)Defrost timer
Usually the defrost timer could solve this issue. It may be located below or back of the refrigerator. Some times it may be located in the side to for side refrigerator.
Locate the timer and rotate the clutch head screw clockwise until you hear one audible click. That puts the system into defrost mode. If the system restarts after 30-35 minutes.
Then there is no problem with Defrost timer.

2)Temperature control
Understand the flow of cold air is from freezer this is controlled by Temperature control unit. The temperature looks like the below diagram
886e0dc.jpg

Remove the front knob
There will be a pair of wire type connections attached with Temperature control unit.
Set the ohms setting on your multitester to X1 and attach one probe to each terminal. Turn the temperature control to off or to the warmest setting if there is no off position. The multitester should give you a reading of infinity if the control is on off and a reading of near infinity if there is no off position. Then turn the control to the coldest setting and retest. Now, the multitester should give you a reading of zero. If both of these tests are not passed, the control needs to be replaced.

Most Jet-Tech dishwashers has one adjustable rinse thermostat and one fixed wash thermostat. The wash thermostat can be substituted with an adjustable thermostat. Location depends on the model. F-18 are located on top. F-22 are located under next to the wash tank. Search by part number or description

I think it has a faulty thermostat, can this be repaired or a new thermostat fitted

Usually the best way is to replace the thermostat. (there is a gas filled tube which operates
a microswitch to regulate temperature). On some models there is an adjustment on the back
of the knob for temperature (using an oven thermometer). I have adjusted the switch on
newer units but it requires extreme patience to get the temperature setting correct as well.
The control is adjusted by 1/10th of a turn to adjust, then reattached to the control panel
and tested using an oven thermometer. When it is adjusted correctly, then loctite or
superglue is applied to the adjustment screw to secure it. Make sure to shut off power
before attempting any adjustments. Hope this is helpful.

How to adjust temperature

Hi, Please use your thermostat to adjust your temperature setting. Most refrigerator thermostat is come with actual temperature setting at thermostat dial but it just use range : cold-medium-off ( or 5...5..3....1..0). So for instance to get your refrigerator colder just set between medium - cold. If your thermostat defective , your refrigerator will work unpredictably. In this case you need to fix or replace the thermostat.

Temperature setting is wrong. Stove is about 80 deggrees cooler than what the knob is set at. I am a yooper too.

If you think it is too cool, adjust the thermostat to make it hotter.

To Adjust the Thermostat:
1. Put the Oven Set knob in the OFF position.
2. Press and hold the HOUR INCREASE and the HOUR DECREASE pads at the same time for 5 seconds until the display changes.
3. Immediately, before display changes back, press the HOUR INCREASE or DECREASE pads to increase or decrease the temperature in 5 degree increments. The oven temperature can be increased up to 35°F.hotter or decreased 35°F. cooler.

If the oven adjustment is set cooler than the factory setting a minus sign “–” and the new temperature will appear in the display.

4. Wait several seconds for the control to automatically set and return to its previous setting.

NOTE: This adjustment will not affect the broiling or the self-cleaning temperatures. The adjustment will be retained in memory after a power failure.

To Adjust the Temperature on Models with Only an Oven Set Knob
1. Put the knob in the OFF position.
2. Pull the knob off by pulling straight out.
3. Press and hold the HOTTER or COOLER button for 5 seconds to make the oven 20°F. hotter or 20°F. cooler.
When you are adjusting the thermostat, the following lights will flash indicating where the thermostat will be set when you release the
adjustment button:
OVEN ON indicates the thermostat will be set at the factory setting.
PREHEATED indicates the thermostat will be set 20°F. hotter.
CLEAN indicates the thermostat will be set 20°F. cooler.
4. After you have made the adjustment, replace the knob.

If you have any doubt please go through the manual which is given here
