SOURCE: is there any way to take back off to clean???

Hi,

I had the same problem. I called Honeywell and they told me that it was designed so it could not be removed and I would have to send it in for repairs. When I told them it only needed cleaning, the woman told me they won't do that and I should by a new one. Right. So, I took it to Home Hardware and they were very helpful. Apparently, the screws at the back require a special screwdriver that is not sold to the public. But, they did it for me and replaced them with common screws. Now I can open it and clean to my hearts content.

SOURCE: Cleaning a HOneywell 14F0 fan

Norm I have this fan & have removed those screws.   Look directly above the switch on the back of the fan, let your eye travel up to the extreme outside edge. Such as where you'd find 12 o'clock on a timepiece.   The screws are very small.  About the size of the head of a finishing nail.
Follow the edge around to 2 o'clock, 4 o'clock, and so on.  Don't blink.
I used a very small philips head screwdriver, the same size as for doing watch or eyeglass repair.  Remember to have a secure place to put the screws, such as a pill bottle, or lid.
And the screws can be difficult to remove, apply a lot of force downward on the screwdriver and turn s-l-o-w-l-y.  Don't strip the head of the screw.
Good luck, Liz/Bizzie Lizzie Atlanta

Vornado 533 grill removal

Vornado 533 black Vornado Fan.
FULL GUIDE, DISSASEMBLY AND CLEANING. NOISE FIX.

Recommended tools.
  1. #2 phillips head screwdriver.
  2. Small handheld flashlight.
  3. Flat prying tool like a flat head or a dull knife.
  4. Small wrench, adjustable wrench, or pliers.

What mistakes I made.

  • I undid the screws on the axle/hinge for angle adjustment. Not nescisairy.
  • I tried to do the tabs before finding the three screws on the back of the fan cage.

How to get the grill off.

  • Get a small tipped but long phillips head screwdriver. 3 inches will likely work fine.
  • Position the fan to be completely level, like the normal non- angled position. Parallel with the base arms.
  • On the back are three small silver screws, remove each. (Don't lose them!)
  • Push plastic tabs on the outer rim of the back of the cage downwards, to the center of the ring. You may want a prying tool like a flathead screwdriver.
  • Pull off frontal grill.
Removing Rotor.
  • To clean the fan, take off the center bolt (You will need a small wrench, but pliers may be used if it's your only option.) think the front bolt may have been reverse threaded?
  • Pull the fan off of the rod, notice how the rod has a flat side.
  • There is a small unique shaped washer underneath the fan, it has a shape that aligns with the plastic of the fan, on it's bottom face. Remember it's position. I remember it being concave outwards, but I may be mistaken.
Cleaning the fan.
  • I then pulled off a bunch of cat hair, and wiped off dust from all parts, especially the spinning rod part. I gave the fan a few quarter second squirts down into the crack of the rod with WD-40s.This got rid of my squeaking noise!

Re-assembly

  • I then put the funky shaped washer back on, and aligned it with the plastic rotor as I slid it back onto the rod. Put the front nut back on, with washer before it. I think the front bolt may have been reverse threaded, can't remember.
  • I then carefully aligned the front grill with the screw holes on both sides of the grill, and re tightened the screws. Make sure you get them nice and snug, otherwise it will be loose and could cause vibrations.

Hi,
You can use the following links to help you remove and clean the basic components of your laptop. Be very careful and note down the exact screws you take out. Do remember to put them back , otherwise the chassis can get misaligned.

Cleaning a 14F0 Honeywell Fan

thank you for using fixya. The blade cage has locks and screws that you can remove from the back. once the cage has been removed, you can remove the blade attached to the motor using a vacuum cleaner or you can remove the blades by undoing the screw on the center detaching it from the motor.

Ceaning inside of fan

With a little more detail on how to clean the 84001. There are 2 screws at the top of the unit on the back side and 1 on the bottom with a small removable cover. Remove those screws and the cover can be removed.
There will be some resistance towards the middle because of 2 clips on both sides. Be carefull not to pull too hard on the ends ; possibility of breaking the cover. Try pressing on center of the cover on one side of the edge.
There are 2 screws holding a bracket that holds the top of the fan. Remove those screws. Then on the bottom there is a shaft that attaches to the motor. You will find a set screw that you need to loosen. When you loosen and remove squirrel cage you will notice a flat spot on shaft. That is where the set screw is to be put when assembling the fan back together.
After cleaning just follow the steps back to assemble your 84001 and enjoy a clean brisk breeze. I hope this helps explain in more detail on how to clean it.

How to remove the vent above the door for cleaning

Sometimes they may be dirty and will respond to cleaning, but in some cases, the actual plastic may yellow and the only remedy is to replace it.

The manual just says to take the two screws out, but doesn't refer to their being anything unusual. I would assume they're small Philips.

But if you're unsure of what kind of tool to use, can you post a photo of the screw head and maybe we can tell.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

cleaning the tower fan consists of this, i took the time to figure it out! unscrew top two screws on back of tower fan. then on bottom of tower fan is a screw cover,(pin size hole in middle of circle) pull cover off. unscrew hidden screw, and now with a little force it should pop right off. it exposes the filter and all it interior. front screen does not come off. oh yeah, your welcome!
