Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
My linear encoder went bad so I purchased a new one and had directions set on how to install and reset up the linear encoder. The installation was a success but when do the setup trying to get into Service Mode it's a disaster. I've done just as the directions said "unload media then, turn on the sub power while pressing left arrow, down arrow, and right arrow all at the same time." My printer then tells me, "Printer in protected mode." What does this mean and how can I get it into service mode?? Help! Because I'm still using my printer. It prints like new again but it will shoot up service code errors like it did before installing the new encoder. I need help someone please. Unfortunatel;y the SSC utililty doesn't work on the RX700. It does, however, work on every other printer we have tried.

1. Go to Start > Run and type in services.msc then press Enter. 2. In the window that opens find "Print Spooler" on the right 3. Right-click "Print Spooler" and select "Properties". 4. Click on the "Recovery" tab and change all 3 drop-down boxes to "Restart The Service". 5. Make sure the 2 text boxes underneath say "1" in them. 6. Click Ok until you are back at the Services window, close it and you're good to go. 7. Go back into the properties of the "Print Spooler" tab and be sure to click Start to restart the Print Spooler service and it will restart the service immediately.
