Kenmore dryer schematics

My dryer is so old, the schematics are gone. It runs fine, but at the end of the cycle, it stops, and sits there and hums. It also seems to continue heating, and I'm afraid the motor will burn itself out, if not be a hazard otherwise. My neighbor is an electrician, so if you have suggestions and can provide a schematic, that would be great! -- Kenmore model # 110.86572120, serial # M61124775, 122v, 60Hz

SOURCE: Kenmore Series 70 Dryer Buzzer won't stop buzzing - Model 110.96573220

  • the buzzer is located under the control panel.
  • you can unplug it.
  • unplug the dryer or turn the breaker off first
  • then take out the 2 screws on both sides of the control panel
  • bull it forward toward you and unhook it from the case
  • you should see the buzzer with two wires going to it
  • only need to disconnect one.
  •  just make sure you wrap the bare wire connector with electrical tape to keep it from touching metal.

SOURCE: Kenmore Series 80 Dryer.

No need for a schematic, there are two kenmore dryer belts, 'full size' or 'apartment size', if it is a belt you will be able to here the motor racing unloaded, turn heat to cold before testing, dont want to blow a thermal fuse.

Kenmore dryer comes apart from the front,

  • UNPLUG dryer 220V is not fun
  • remove the lint screen
  • remove the screws under the lint screen holding the case top to the screen holder
  • with a putty knife or other blunt blade release the catches at the front corners of the top and raise top
  • remove screws holding front of case on, from inside the dryer
  • remove door switch cables
  • lift front of case off and set aside,
  • can reach motor, belt, felts and rollers.
  • broken belt will be obvious, lying on the floor
If belt is broken, examine rollers and felt bearings for wear, stuck rollers or no felt left, is the most common cause of belts breaking, extra tension is required to spin the drum, If damaged replace them, they are cheap and easy to do, and it woud be no fun if another belt broke quickly

reasemble after repair in reverse order.

SOURCE: No Heat

Hi, I worked on one of these yesterday and have found that the thermal fuse blows first. If your dryer has the lint filter on top then the thermal fuse is behind the back panel and is located on the same duct as the lint filter. It will usually have blue wires on it instead of black or red.

Dryer stopped in mid cycle (Kenmore)

Check the door switch. You should hear a click when you push and release it. If no click, replace the switch with this part.
If the switch is good, then the thermal fuse has gone out. Here is a link to that part.

Here is a video to show you how to replace the door switch.

Dryer was working fine, then it stopped its cycle and would not restart for next load. humming sound, drum will not turn?

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

The hum sound that you hear is coming from the motor that has gone bad and needs replacement. When the dryer humms and will not work it is the motor that has gone bad, you can also check the wire connections from the control to the motor before replacing it. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

My Kenmore dryer series 90 continues to rum when I open the dryer door?

If the dryer stops at the end of the cycle or when you turn the dial to off,
The door switch has gone bad.
If it does not stop at the end of the cycle the timer has gone bad.

Dryer stops but the timer continues on

Fixed! The "push to start" button was stuck. Must have been some dust. I pushed the knob a few times and that's all it took. Works fine now.

Kenmore dryer stopped running

Hi, I can determine a motor bad by the noise. Does it hum while holding the start button or is it a grinding deep sound? It can sound like the motor starts slow but once it gets going, it is ok. Sometimes the house lights will dim when the motor statrs going bad.
Let me know if I can help you further.
