Had this unit before and never had a problem,
a friend of mine is using it now, the fone
is more than 2 years old and still going.
With regards to your problem, a software
reflash would be the first option
Format user are is not available on this phone by hand so you can only solve your problem or taking it to a nokia center or by flashing it with some 3rd solutions that you can buy over the net.

from your explanation, the problem is from your charger, it is either its making partial contact somewhere or if you have purchased another charger asides the one which originally came with the fone, then it might have been substandard. try using a different charger on your fone or/and your charger on a different fone, this should help you confirm where the problem is from
You have a small errer all u need to do is switch off yr fone take out the battery and sim card blow into yr fone then put everything back in... and switch it back on.. try to send a text to a friend our yrself..But if yr fone still acts the way it dose u need to go on the sony ericsson site to download the new softwear to so the problem.
I had exactly the same problem with you. What I did to my phone was, I took the battery off the phone for a minute. Then put your battery back and quickly plug your charger jack into your N81. if your phone start to charge then that's mean it starts to feeding the battery up.
But, after that my phone always find itself under charging condition even with the charger jack unplugged. What a frustrating thing, I am trying to flash it to newer version firmware. Will see what is gonna happen. Will get back to you when I get the answer.
I personally think if the charging component inside the fone has got dirt on it. "maybe" it made short-circuit or some sort of thing.
Will try to open up the fone and do some cleaning if upgrading firmware doesnt give any clues.
my fone does that when its dead an when i try to turn it on it flickers make sure ur phone says charging ur charger mite not be charging ur fone or sometimes when u over charge ur fone it can break it by getting too hot by over charging it
hi. may i know how many years already you use this fone? to protect ur battery, u better charge when the battery life become 1% and never on the fone during charge. and remember, dont switch on the battery charge before the battery full. if not, the battery will damage and you have to buy a new one. hope this hep you.
i left my phone charging over night becasue i was using the alarm, when i woke up the phone was off and wouldnt turn back on, ive tried different batterys and chargers, sometimes when i plug the charger in the I.R in the side flashes, i dont know what else to try is there anything?
