I just paid a little over $300 to have this fixed and boy do I feel ripped off. The part is available online for about $50 (I was charged $140) and the repair guy was here for about 40 minutes ($120 in labor, $170 before the 30% new customer discount, and $55 to defrost the freezer. Anyway, hopefully you don't get ripped off like I did and now that you've listened to me gripe you can find the solution at the end of this post. If for some reason this site doesn't allow links look up part #
PS727531 or Auto Defrost Assembly. You will probably have to defrost your freezer first (which will solve your problem for a month or two). Here's what I learned about defrosting from watching the technician: Get lots of towels, if you have a drapery steamer or carpet steamer with furniture attachment it seems to go by much more quickly then when I used a hair dryer. Anyway, here's the Link. I don't mind paying for the work but I feel totally ripped off. Hopefully, this will help.

Well guess what. Jenn Air / Maytag now has this issue as a recall. So just call them and tell them the fridge is not cooling. They will schedule a recall service appointment. Do be sure they schedule it as a "recall" service appointment or you will be charged.
That sure beats pulling out the hair dryer every time it happens!
Service number is 1-800-462-9824

Hi: Did you check the defrost heater itself? I checked Jennair and Sears parts to no avail. If you didn't check the heater it will be at the bottom of the freezer behind where you removed the back cover. A glass tube with a coil in it. If the coil or tube is broken replace that insead. I hope I helped, Jeff I found a website with the defrost timer, but not the location of the timer on the fridge. http://www.appliancepartsworldwide.com/store_SearchResults.aspx?S=1131392&ST=PBM

I took the arm of the ice-making machine out of the slot and put it back in, pushing it snugly inside the slot, then raised and lowered it several times. Then, with the arm in the up (stop making ice) position, I felt inside the ice-making tray, where I noted there were ice cubes as well as a sheet of ice at the base of the ice-making tray. I poured approximately 24 oz. of hot tap water into the tray to melt the sheet of ice. I turned the freezer temp control to "warmer". I think the freezer temp setting was too cold, causing the ice maker to freeze the water before it could make cubes. I have a working ice maker again!
