We use a stand alone--single drive and a Jukebox with two drives. Both drives in the Juke box have 15 dips off and the #1 switch closest to the rear, switched on. The Standalone drive has all switches off. Our drives use terminators on the cable connectors on the rear of the drives.

SOURCE: what should the dip switches be set on for this to

It does not matter. What is important is the the settings are the same as your computer and the program printing to it. FYI: The last switch is the "STOP BIT" switch.
Look in the printing program and in the PC's control panel, in the "HARDWARE DEVICES" and choose the serial device. If they are set the same, make sure the PC's BIOS has the serial devices turned on.
TRIVIA: Most printers and computers are set to N-8-1

SOURCE: How to set dip switches on remote for Chamberlain Liftmaster 1000

I would go with a chamberlain clicker on this issue. These remote are phased out and the 9 dips don't work well with them. Thanks BB

How do I get the remote to work fan and light

There are dip switches in the fan and in the remote that need to be set to the same numbers. You can set them to whatever you want, as long as they match. If these numbers don't match it won't control your fan.

Here's a few lines from the user manual:
"IMPORTANT! Before installing this control, check the factory dip switch settings. Refer to Figure 1. Be sure the dip switch positions of the transmitter and the receiver match, or the ceiling fan will not function."

Here's a link to the PDF manual, which has an explanation and a figure in the middle of where you can locate these dip switches on the transmitter and the receiver both.

We installed a 27185 remote kit in a hunter fan, and factory settings. The fan light goes on and off by itself. I changed the dip switches( matched them to the remote to the controller), and the fan and...

I have had the same problem with the light coming on intermittently by itself. At first I also could not change the settings and have the remote work with the new settings. But I found out that when you change the dip switch of the receiver you must turn off the power using the wall switch or the circuit breaker and turn it back on before the receiver will use the new dip setting. I am still waiting to see if the light will come back on after changing the dip switches from 1-on, 2-on, 3-on, 4-off to 1-off, 2-on, 3-on, 4-on and the remote's jumpers from 1-jumpered, 2-jumpered, 3-jumpered, 4- no jumper to 1-no jumper, 2-jumpered, 3-jumpered, 4- jumpered.

DIP Switches don't seem to matter

You need to completely power off (wall switch or breaker) when changing the dip switches. Not just power off from remote because it will keep previous setting. I learned it the hard way....

What is the dip switch setting for a second channel at the remote and the fan control unit

I think you have more than one fan and want separate frequencies for both -- correct?

The dip switch settings don't matter as long as they are different for the different fans.

Set the switches on the same number in both the remote and the receiver.
