I have the infinity rs8a tower speakers and they sound good but when I turn the volume up the subs turn on and off on both towers

When sub-woofers are overdriven (played too loud) they create a lot of heat. You can try using an external fan or improve the ventilation around the speakers. Most good speakers have thermal cut offs that prevent permanent damage.

I'd like to hook up 2 auto speakers, 4 ohms @50 watts each, in place of my 2- 4 ohm computer speakers with built in amp by sony, the little towers with volume knob. Do you think it will work ok?

it will work fine. the original equipment is 4 ohm but wattage is not stated. likely the original equipment is less than 50 watts. Therefore things should be fine. Start out at low volume and increase gradually. If you hear distortion, turn it down.

How to double check speaker hook up on asus desktop computer

maybe they have the volume muted. Check to make sure the volume is not muted and that the speakers are plugged into the light green port in the back of the computer.

Make sure the volume on the physical speakers are turned on and turned up. And make sure the volume in the Audio Sound Properties it turned up and not muted.

If you see the speaker megaphone at the bottom right near the time click on it to adjust the properties.

You can click Start/Control Panel and look for Sound or Audio properties.

I just bought Bose Companion 2 speakers which I don't know how to connect to my HP Pavillion desktop PC. The pdf instruction booklet does not help. There are multiple jacks (6) at the back of the tower...

You need to connect the speakers to the green jack in your PC.

Check your system sound volume setting to make sure it's not set to MUTE or the volume slider is on or near the lowest position - you don't specify what system you have on the PC so I can't give you an exact pointer but Volume Control generally is found under Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment.

No sound from this monitor. I have everything plugged in , volume icon is turned all the way, mute is off, adjusted speaker levels, etc on my desktop.

Firstly,

You need to check if the green cable from the computer tower is blugged into the back of the monitor (The cable looks the same at both the ends) this is for the output to come through the monitor.

If that is plugged in and if not working, Try a headphone on the tower and check if the sound is coming from the headphone, If yes, You will have to adjust the volume on the monitor or the speaker of the monitor might have gone bad. If there is no sound coming in, Then the problem is with the tower and not the monitor.

My hp tower has a built in speaker how do I turn it off. I just want to hear sound from my speaks not the built in speaker

You have 2 options.
The easy one is: double click on the audio device at the task manager in order to open the audio mixer, try to locate the (internal) speaker slider and slide it all the way down. If the speaker slider is not viewable choose option and try to locate it at the new window in order to enable it and come viewable and then change it's volume. If the above method prove not to work you have to follow the hard way.
Open up the case. Locate near the front side of the tower the built in speaker. It has one pair of cables that are connected with a small plastic connector at the motherboard. Unplug the connector; maybe there is a clip in order to unlock the connector, use a small screwdriver with care not do make any damage at the motherboard. Close the tower and enjoy the sound from your speakers without the interference of the internal speaker.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

My Emachine is only 2-3 yr's old now & I have never had sound. It was the cheapest one & on sale. I must have chose one that did not have a sound board. I can not put in a sound board by myself...

Are you sure there is no onbaord sound it should look like microphone or headphone socket holes. If it does then you are needing the correct driver. Open the tower and check what motherboard you ahve then post again for the correct driver.

If there is no sound onboard then it is very simple to install a pci soundcard anf they are very cheap. I certainly wouldn't go buying a new tower for just sound. Google on installing a pci card and you will see how easy it actually is or ask a young friend they know heaps about computers.

Have external gateway speakers

First make sure your sound cards are working properly. 1) Check the master volume of your PC. Go to start menu, control panel, sounds speech and audio devices, sounds and audio devices - i) In volume tab click the speaker volume and check whether all the left, right, etc.. volumes are in medium or high. ii) In audio tab click the volume tab of sound playback and make sure that the master volume is not in mute and all the volumes are either in medium level or at 100%. After making these changes try playing any music. Even if the problem persists go and get your sound card checked in an authorised service centre.

Thanks & Regards,
Shiva

Volume

oh i see the first question was way to vauge to really answer. it sounds that this is a powered speaker meaning it requires that 12v that you are reading and wont work without it. i am assuming that the cord coming from the speaker is a male end that plugs into female if that is the case it will be difficult to find an adapter to plug into the wall as those have male ends as well. if there is a female plug on the speaker you should be able to find an adapter that plugs into the wall outlet(transformer) just be sure to match up all specs i.e. 12v 1.0a
