Question about Dyson DC14 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
Hello ... My Dyson Animal DC14 has given me no problems, but recently was used often without emptying the dirt container. This led to a crammed, filthy canister. I am cleaning it out by hand ... yet some of the dirt is higher up around the sides of the canister, and even up into the inflow area above. Can I use a water spray up in that area without harming the motor or anything else, ensuring that it completely dries before putting it back in its place? Thanks for any help you can provide. Alfie
Yes you can just make sure it's completely dry befor putting it together

You need to start with a pair of scissors and patience. Sit on the floor with the vacuum roller visible and accessible. Snip a string and pull it off. If the roller stops, cut string at that point. Try again. this is time consuming, but necessary. We borrowed a vacuum from a family that had four girls with long blond hair. We had to de-hair the roller before it would work sufficiently on our carpet. Once the hair was off, it worked GREAT! It was so wonderful that we went out and bought a Dyson of our own; now we don't have to remove long blonde hair from the roller to get it to work.

Make sure that the filter is completely dry before you reinsert it. If not, it will mildew, emitting a horrible smell. When you clean your cylinder, you must wait for at least three to four days to make sure that it is completely dry.

From what you've described, it sounds as if you may not have your clear bin and cyclone pack assembled correctly. Please check you have these parts correctly fitted together - it may help to take a look at the DC14 user guide:
