Question about Echo Garden
Starts but will run only a few seconds. After starting, while idling, it will die immediately if I increase throttle. I have replaced the carburetor, spark plug, and cleaned the air filter. The first time starting after replacing the carburetor, it ran fine for several minutes. I began a test of actually trimming but as soon as it came under a little load it began to lose RPM until it died. It acts as if it is starved for gas.

Replace the filter in the gas tank. Sounds like it is mostly plugged.

SOURCE: My Echo power edge trimmer
I was having the same problem and stood there while the tech fixed it for me. I could have done it myself; honestly, nothing to be afraid of. Take the air cleaner off and then take the carburetor off and start taking it apart layer by layer (remove screws and take pictures with a digital camera of how to put it back). It is not complicated and it was a small piece of grass stuck where you never thought it could get that allowed a start but not full throttle.

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:
You will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Make sure the small screen is free of debris.(Should be able to see daylight through it.)
Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152),to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.
If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.

You either have a air leak in a fuel line, carb jets are plugged, or carb seals went bad. They sell a rebuild kit for your carb, 10-15 dollars. I would start by removing carb spraying it with carb cleaner and blowing it out with a air gun, put it back on and see if this worked. If not I would replace fuel lines and rebuild carb.
